I was helping out my friend who is a Doctor of Acupuncture when his receptionist couldn't make it in one day and Ringo and his wife Barbara came in for their appointments. We got to talking about how cool it was that the band was at the top of the charts again after all those years and he reached into his jacket and handed me a new shrink rapped The Beatles 1. Fuck yea!!

Wow. That's insane. My brother gave me this album (along with Tomita's Debussy album) and it altered my mind for music significantly! I went nuts when I found the HOLST THE PLANETS by TOMITA album in England on a trip with my folks (age 11) but that it was 'controversial' as Gustav H's estate (I think?) didn't like it and wanted the album pulled.

After this, it was the Beatles (RED & BLUE) and then LARRY NORMAN (In Another Land).

    :)

I used to listen to only guitar music and hip-hop until I heard this

I've been listening to techno/dance music ever since.

Not a song, but the first time I heard KOAN Sound it was like the clouds parted overhead. I've been an avid hip hop head literally since childhood and never thought I'd like anything else as much. But KOAN sound has that same head nod factor with a unique and ear grabbing sonic palette. I feel like those guys never get enough credit.

Well, this album from a band you never heard about, but specifically the first track blew up mind and then the rest of it warped my life forever, musically and otherwise:

If you listen to the whole thing the ending contains a fantastic musical joke to boot!

I was 14 and listening to the radio at night, when they played this piece.
Few days later I managed to find a cassette on that record and spend days and days trying to "understand" the chord changes.
So many years late, I'm still mesmerized by the beauty of that chord sequence and the way I listened to music was never, ever, the same. Maybe it didnĀ“t change my life, but definitively changed the way I listen to music, which is so big in my life.

    Blue in green.

    The Dance of Eternity.

Was gonna say Learning to Live but it has Labrie signing, so that gives it less points (when I knew about DT I didn't know better). Live version was awesome, except Labrie fucking it all up all the song through...

Low volume, what a pity, but here I can see hear better the amazing Portnoy.
