These have the perfect thickness, material hardness, and grip for my taste. Don't use them much in the studio only because I've got only one of these and haven't come across them in nearby stores, so I save mine for the times I play live.

I have a friend that makes me copper and stainless steel picks. Haven't used a 'regular' pick since. Still have bags of the black 2mm Gator Grips laying around unopened hehe.

Yep 1.4 or 2.0 for some stuff - acoustic or bass.

The choice of pick you use is unique to you. There are a million variables, all unique to you: from your instrument, acoustic or electric, guage of strings, type of music you play, your playing style and how precise or brutal or loud or soft, .... all of this is unique. Find any old plectrum that feels comfortable TO YOU. I can't really see how anyone could advise anyone else on this.

Where do you live, I can get them in a day or two and send them to you. They come in packs of six. Just let me know how many you want/need.

(Rollerball was my favorite movie the summer that I was 15 years old...the original and not the remake)

I really appreciate your offer to help , but I guess it would be more of a hassle and the shipping costs would be huge too. I found a 24-pack on Amazon, waiting for it to be back in stock.

Also, I'm afraid I've not watched that movie!

I like the ribbed dimpled picks.
I mean who does not like the sideway chimey guitar pick sound scraping a string, specially on acoustic guitar strings.
The Dunlop .60 mm with the ribbed side is awesome for this.

Green Tortex TIII all the way

    Green is rigid enough
    Tortex is precise souding
    Jazz III tip

    https://www.amazon.com/Dunlop-462P-88-Tortex-Green-Players/dp/B004VQJF1Y

MY way of finding MY pick :
Size (Jazz III was too small for me)
material (Tortex because i find nylon too soft, ultex too gliding ...)
Tip shape (Jazz III tip because "regular" is too round AND Flow is too sharp)

It is a never ending process, because even your guitar playing will change.

I'm trying a british sixpence right now, because Brian May always uses them. Before that, I always used standard plecs so they feel a little small... But after some practice it's working a lot better, and the sound is really unique. It sounds metallic but not as sharp as steel plectrums. Maybe I try some other coins too.

My favourite is the Dunlop Big Stubby 1.00, it was the first pick I've ever bought, and I always liked them the most.

I got me 3 sizes of Fender celluloid picks which are fine for guitar but not for bass. I destroyed that pick in less than half an hour tremolo picking bass yesterday.

I'm thinking of getting stubbies next. I need a pick that's ready to go down to the nut house & still try to beat their head against the padded walls.

Those fat boi stubbies look like they're ready to mash their head in both ways into my fat strings.

For guitar though nothing beats super thin Dunlop Maxgrips, barely ever drop them because of the printed grips on them.

They don't break or look like the tip of their head got dented after a session then got sent to the "gifted" class afterwards.

Only problem is they dissipate into thin air like all other picks so I keep rebuying them because of that. But that's a pick-pick problem, not a Dunlop pick problem.

Thanks for the advice this is way up my alley and I've been seeing those Alice picks myself since you say they are like the dunlop nylon picks which are my favorite picks of all time. I'm about to do the same so I don't have to reorder that often.

I find it interesting how a small piece of plastic/metal/wood/bone/whatever causes so many differing opinions and just how particular we can get about this tiny implement. Part of the fun I guess!

My favourite quote about picks is from Robert Fripp (though I'm paraphrasing since I don't remember it word for word), who uses those big triangle picks, who said that the difference between a triangle pick and a normal teardrop shaped pick is

I don't really have a "favorite" but anything that is in a Jazz III size and at least 0.88mm is preferable. I also have one pick made out of ebony that is about 1mm, that sounds great on acoustic and clean playing, and one pick made out of bone that's about 1.3mm which sounds great on bass for a more "clanky" tone! I think I bought them both at some music shop for €0.5 each and they haven't worn noticeably for maybe 5 years.

I'm listening. I've never seen a pick made of bone. Where can I get me one?
