It uses real AI if it adapts its algorithms through progressive learning and lets the data program them. If it just picks on-the-fly from a set of already prepared fixed presets, according to input content analysis, it does the same as many plugins with 'learn' function do, and do not declare themselves as using AI.

 

I think AI is a term for machine learning

I agree with the spirit of your post. On the other hand "applied AI" actually only use that in the design/develop stage. Learning, "deep learning" and stuff.
The final product uses these algorithms designed in the learning stage.
I'm not saying it can't be done but that would e a massive CPU hog.
Anyways my two cents. Could be wrong and the subject is exciting.

 

The Soothe haters just love this plugin- this guy updates this thing every week. It's fine, but it's not mindblowing.

 

Meldaproduction also updated algo for MSpectralDynamics in new 14.08

 

It's the same DSEQ.dll and fully backwards compatible.

This isn't some Acustica nonsense where you need 5 versions of every plugin and 1000 files in your VST root directory.

I'm actually feeling a bit guilty since I bought Soothe/Soothe2 update (which I never touch now) and have been using the R2R version of this, but I'm definitely going to buy it.

The dev comes from the Cockos school of rapid updates, listening to the user base, no invasive copy protection and even has free JS versions of some of his plugins for Reaper. The Soothe developer wouldn't even give me a hint if I should wait for Soothe2 which came out a month after I bought it.

Uncracked plugins like Soothe have a halo effect, and while it's definitely a fine plugin and may provide better results on occasion DSEQ is far ahead in my opinion.

 

Does anyone know, if v1 and v2 could live side by side on the same system?
Maybe in different folders?

 

While this is great news, I don't like "learn" functions... I like it to work on the fly.

 

It works on the fly after learning.
But you can also ignore the AI presets and work with the non-AI ones, which work without leaning if you chose so.

 

But since the AI presets are fixed like any others, DSEQ is learning nothing by itself...
Just presets learned by some other machine with "better hearing" than developers' themselves.
