The most useless piece of gear you own

  1. What is the biggest waste of your money that you can't even bother trying to sell because nobody would want it?
    I suggest NI Kore.

Some cheap hash that smells of boat fuel, that makes the spliff explode.
Never think that cheaper is better with gear.

Interesting, why do you consider the Faderport useless?

I've been to a few studios where they were having strange glitches in Logic; flashing between mixer and arrangement or whatever.
Everytime it was a Presonus fader thing sending out random MIDI messages.
    Don't know if that's tzzsnk's experience.

works like a charm with studio one, instant access of the volume pan of the current track and 2 clicks away to tempoary controll any plugin parameter with 1024 steps resolution. I love it
It even works in conjunction to teh FaderPort 16, it doesn't follow automatically (but it can manually jump to the current track ) the track selection.

At the moment, all my hate goes to Volca Beats: a compulsive purchase. It claims to be a (very bad) imitation of the 808 sound. I desperately tried any effect to make it interesting: passing it through distortions, compressors, bitcrusher, beatslicer ... there is no way to have a somewhat interesting sound.
The other Volcas aren't that bad, but the Volca Beats is truly a gigantic fail for Korg.

Then, I finally I found the right use for this gear:

I had to think pretty hard... and I just can't find one. I can say what I don't use much, or rather it gets used the least: Akai GX-75 cassette player. It's just there for some flavour if needed.

The thing is, I never buy when having GAS, but always question and plan on what to buy, how it fits the studio, and if it's needed at all. I know a guy who buys stuff whatever is on discount, so he's got a full cupboard of crap he never uses , because it doesn't fit in his studio workflow, or in some cases even don't know how to use! :wow: Always have a plan and ask yourself "do I really need this?" and "how does this work with my other equipment? [does it, and how much, it contributes to your studio]"

    Cheers!

I have a Faderport Classic and I find it *very useful* when mixing, and it doesn't make any problems at all. W7x64, Reaper 5.99.

Is this the new black version of Faderport we're talking about?

Thank goodness that I bought it used for 20 buckaroons, though I never used it and prolly never will. Maybe if I butcher it and remove the ball bearings, then...nope.

    PS That's not me.

The motorized fader are the last garbage ever! E.g. comparing it to Steinberg CC121.
