Penang you included a warez link in your post. Read the rules: no warez on AudioSEX! no requests, no links sharing! You're only allowed to share links to free software. Therefore you're getting a warning.
If it is available for free then I will allow it, if it still costs money irrespective of whether it is still being supported then I can't. I can't research every link post, I don't have time for that. If it looks to me like it's warez then it is flagged. I did a quick search and saw that they cost money so that's why I came to the decision. You can still ask your question just don't include the link and let people look it up themselves, the link is incidental. And I think you're misunderstanding our roles here: I don't have to prove anything to you, if something is flagged you have the burden of proof.
Hyperprism comes with an .nfo by TeamDOD. It's from the year 2000. Title: "w a r e z b e a r z f r o m R u s s i a a n d b e y o n d". A serial is included. A Team would not provide free software. Sometimes it is just a narrow ridge between warez and non warez. Especially if the stuff is old and not in stock anymore. Don't know if the developer released it now for free. No information about it seems to be available. On the other hand i don't believe that Hyperprism can do surprising things, which can't be done equally with newer equipment.
Absolutely Alraun thanks for that information. Really as much as I wish I had a research team to find out the status on whether an application is free now I don't so I have to make decisions on my own in the moment. If he could prove to me that it is available free then I would love to reinstate the link and remove the warning, I'm nothing if not fair. I also don't understand why penang feels that it's a choice between including a link or taking his post down. He could always just ask the question and maybe someone has worked with this software and can give some feedback...someone like you for example.
You guys can say what you want, but the thing boils down to this: Before you accuse others of "posting warez", you could have asked, or you can always try using google.com Googling "hyperprism" and a link pops up http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug98/articles/hyperprism.html At the bottom of the review at that above link, there are three leads: Two email addresses: [email protected] [email protected] And one link http://www.arboretum.com The "arboretum.com" link is DEAD, which leaves us "unityaudio.co.uk" as the only lead left Go to http://www.unityaudio.co.uk and you find someone selling audio gadgets You can try do a search on the site for "hyperprism" yourself, and please tell us what you find Thank you !
penang What part of I don't have all day to get to the bottom of this do you not understand? If I did that with every link I would never be able to do anything else on both forums where I work all day. I did a search and saw on that Sound On Sound article that they cost money so I made the decision, I can't spend an hour clicking on every link in the article and following these trails for hours. Maybe one day you won't be able to buy Windows XP from Microsoft's site, does that now mean it's free? I've got an idea: how about you find proof that it's free and I'll remove the warning, restore the link and issue an apology. Why is the link even important? If it's so easy to find then let people do their own research and come upon it by themselves. You wanted to know about the software not the link correct?
@ penang, I suggest you email unityaudio and ask them if the company is still trading, might give you an idea if you can class the plugin as abandonware but that still doesn't mean it is free to download, just a thought the SOS link states that the review was published in 1998, I'm sure there are much better plugins available now
Yeah, i would have given a feedback, but i never had this thing installed. The reason why i downloaded Hyperprism some time ago was a sentence by Eno. I have found it: "Hyperprism is a wonderful invention." Brian Eno If Eno says that so..... But priorities have changed and i haven't installed Hyperprism to this day - and probably i won't. To be honest: the screen pictures of it's GUI gave me the impression of old shit, measured by today's standards. Of course this means nothing about how this thing sounds. penang, what's actually the reason why you don't try this software for yourself?
Alraun I haven't been into music production for as long as many other people here so I don't personally know it (we're talking like 15 years ago) but I have heard a thing or two on the net. I didn't know about Eno though that's really cool. I was cracking up about your comment on the GUI, I couldn't agree more. penang Yeah how come you've never tried it out yourself? Honestly I think things have come a long way since then.
I was using Hyperprism back in 2000 and it was crap. It was the time when digital noise reduction was still in its early stage and most plugins were struggling with sonic artifacts - so besides the marketing hype, they were not worth a dime. I remember my wife had a chance to speak with the owner of Hyperprism (he also had other products). Nice guy, he was Asian and had bought the company for one million - he was taken. It was bought soon afterwards by another company from Orange county, California. From then on, it went south. So why bother with this crap - we have far better products in this day and age, no need to waste precious time.
uh, shouldn't it be the other way around ? (disregarding wether he was right or wrong in this specific case)
What I meant is that he has the burden of proof to challenge my evidence. Being moderator I already have reasons and evidence for why I made my decision in the first place, I don't target members simply because I feel like it. My reasoning was based on information gleaned from another site so this is the final word unless the member can prove otherwise. penang wanted me to spend a few hours clicking through a million links to come to a definitive answer and I just don't have time for that. It took me all morning and the input of other members familiar with this software package to get to the bottom of this. Do you really think I can do that for every link of this nature? And it ended up that I was right in the end and I was even nice enough to remove the warning though it was actually deserved. You're not going to get a better deal than that. *no*
