    Hi team

I have heard someone talking about adding 2 reverbs on a vocal

1 of the reverbs is for ambiance

Could someone explain the process of how to do it

    I use waves plugins

    Thanks

That's not uncommon. You use a short reverb, like ambience or small room with some ERs to thicken up the vocals and a longer one like large room, hall, cathedral to add a reverb tail.
Of course long rooms and halls also have ERs but this way you can combine them freely and treat them differently.

^^^ Exactly. For example, I sometimes use Waves JJP Vocals which has small plate built-in. This adds a little space. Putting larger hall reverb like Lexicon or Vahalla over it gives vocal nice different effect to be creative with

First: low send level short plate reverb to enhance the high frequency.
Second: long hall or medium room reverb providing space or working as a FX.

there is a video where warren huart talked about this, cant find it so i try to reconstruct what he said:

warren uses 3 bis 4 reverbs for his song:
    short size 1vst verse
    middle/inbetween size 2nd verse
    big plate (1-3s decay) chorus
he blends them together, so at the chorus the short and middle reverb are present aswell, just quieter than the plate

same with delays, three of them: 1/8, 1/4, slap
longer delays for the chorus, shorter ones for the verses

all details mentioned are just suggestions

I didn't know much about ambiance reverb but I'm watching Young Guru the art of subtractive eq and he just used Waves H-Reverb Hall on one send and another H-Reverb preset called ambiance on another send. And then he just adjusted the volumes of the reverbs by ear.

One reason for using multiple reverbs is adding movement. So experiment with reverbs that are actually moving the source sound away from you. Like short > medium > long (mono or stereo). Mix them in around -30dB and you'll start hearing a nice extra dimension. Be careful with muddying up the source, so experiment by using pre-delays that correlate to the songs bpm. Also: Abbey road trick EQ by high- and lowpassing @ 600Hz & 10kHz.
