I've signed up there twice, and both times I just couldn't keep up with the necessary ratio requirements no matter how much I seeded. So of course I got the "add money to boost your ratio" thing. I actually think it was set up that way. Wow, they lost it all. You win some, you lose some huh? (some? lol. In this case all!). Has anyone else been able to keep a good ratio without paying for it? I gave up, and haven't used them in awhile.

Yes. When you join these sites, download the most popular releases regardless of mac or pc, then you leave your torrents uploading 24/7. That's the secret. I've had over 1000 actively seeding at one point or another. Don't get greedy in the beginning, and keep seeding flowing all day everyday.

Been a member since 07 never had a prob as bluerover said above wait till you got a decent ratio b4 you Dl obscure (no leechers) stuff & most newer stuff can be got @ rutracker
Anyhow it's all bakup & running again

 

Same thing for me, I was unable to keep the ratio high enough. But I must add that this was a long time ago. And yes I shut down my machine at night, the cost of keeping computer on 24 hours, electricity, wear, etc .. is not worth the 10$ of a premium UL account.

Karma. The site owner is a douche, he deserved this.

 

What I did was I'd get the torrent file for popular torrents on there, download the matching files from sister site. Then I'd put said files in the torrent folder so it'd come up as complete. So I'd basically get away with uploading stuff I didn't download from there in the first place LOL. Most of the stuff you'll find on sister site anyway, only really used audionews for older stuff which I couldn't find working links for.

 

Everything is back now, private messages, torrents, etc, so all good (before I even knew there was a problem, ha, ha)

 

Most of older stuff you can get on VSTClub, Magesy® R-Evolution, Audio-Museum, VST Museum, etc. sites. And on PNP networks such as hub Direct Connect / Advanced Direct Connect network DC++.
Audionews is a real drag.

The thing is many private trackers have these rules. For me is unthinkable to keep them. Many people seem to pay a seedbox service.
Perhaps in the last years with 300Mbps+ fiber bandwidth widely available you can keep it but for me still isn't worth it.
But if it works for you, why not.

When I tried AN many years ago not even the Real-Debrid trick/compatibility was a thing, so I ended in some Magesy DD clone and then in AZ.

 

Same here, I think I joined a year before you and my ratio has been sky high since day 1 heh. Its really not that hard to leave your stuff up and running for awhile until you at least get 1.0 back. If you're gonna be a leech you're not wanted at torrent sites to begin with. If you're spending your time downloading sample cds that were posted 10 years ago, yeah you're going to have a hell of a time seeding back because we all got those 10 years ago and did our sharing then. If you're smart and grabbing the latest stuff and you LEAVE IT SEEDING right after you download it, you'll easily hit 3.0 (where mine is set to stop sharing) if not that day the next. You can do this easily with Logic, Ableton Live, any Kontakt or Komplete update, Waves bundle, etc.. My ratio there is 16:1 and all I did was follow the rules and give back what I took like you're supposed to heh.

BTW Audionewz didn't lose "everything". If you would keep reading, they restored the latest backup they had which was actually at about 9am that morning (my time zone). When I got home from work, it was right where it was when I left in the morning. They lost maybe a few hours worth of torrents and messages, that was it.

Been a member from 2010 , no problem whatsoever . Very good torrent site , especially for big releases (10-20GB) . And I don t think Audionews is competition , is just different (in a good way)...
