I would go for amd ryzen rather than intel if you go for a brand new one.. or if you want to go with the older architecture don't get a brand new one, buy a used gaming pc with the intel i7 if that is what you are looking for.. you will get a decent one for a few hundert bucks that will be faster than the one you buy brand new for the same amount of money. if it has a good cooler and power supply it should be good for a few years.. i am still using a i7 2600k from 2012 that ran overclocked to 4.5 ghz since i bought it without any problems. but you need to make sure the power supply and the cooler are good

    2700X - 3700X with B350-450 Chipset MOBO, 3200mhz RAM.
You can not go wrong. Verry cheep and 8 core 16 threat.
    I myself use a 2700X with B350.
3200 MEM and RME Audio card.
    Clean machine.
    MOBO = https://www.asus.com/nl/Motherboards/PRIME-B350-PLUS
They just released a new BIOS with Update AM4 AGESA to 1006.
One of the best motherboards and support.

Why on earth does people list AMD products when he specific ask for Intel? AMD fanboys?

Intel Core i7-10700K (If you gonna use a graphic card buy i7-10700)
    Noctua NH-D15S CPU cooler
    AsRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4
    Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 32GB (2X16)

Should really take the time to read, it's like asking for recommendations on what Gibson to buy and someone throws in a '73 Strat

Those Noctua's are quiet, ugly a sin but one of the quietest fans I've not heard. They also come in black now for those who like to show off the internals

    Here are some suggestions:

    Intel Core i7 10700K 8x 3.80GHz So.1200 - processor (latest generation, great cpu)

Noctua NH-D15 - cooler (great cooler)

ASUS Prime Z490-A So.1200 - mainboard (for So.1200, don't know how many slots you need, the more, the better, but this one has plenty to offer)

8GB Sapphire Radeon RX 570 - gpu (not the most important component for an audio pc, but this one is perfect for the price and does very well, alternatively you can use any Nvidia GTX 1660, but they are a bit more expensive.)

    2x 1000GB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 2280 - M.2 SSD (1 for system, projects & plugins, 1 for sample libraries)

64GB Corsair Vengeance LPX black DDR4-3200 - RAM (4x16GB is better than 2x32GB)

750 Watt be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 Modular 80+ Platinum - power supply (Don't know how much power you need, but this is very silent and future proof)

Cooltek UMX4 Window silver - ATX tower (just a suggestion, but it's great, I have it too)

Further you need a good audio interface, something like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, Steinberg UR22C or Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6. Again this depends on your needs how much gear you need to connect.
But I honestly don't know which home studio will ever need any better audio interface.

Approx. 1300GBP/1450EUR/1700USD in total for pc + interface, it's for sure depending on where you buy these components, but you can downgrade some to save money.
I wouldn't downgrade CPU, RAM and SSD, the rest depends on your needs.

Ik vind het allemaal best verwarrend, weet nog steeds niet wat is een goed deal voor mij. Goeie tip, dank u wel.

This one should work Core i7-9700K, but if it was me I would get Core i9-9900K I like having 16 threads. Also I think you should wait for thunderbolt 4 to come out which is what I am doing right now. Since I will be getting a thunderbolt audio interface and upgrading my Fire wire interface

No point in waiting for Thunderbolt 4 just minor upgrades that will have no impact on audio interfaces. By the way I'm upgrading my pc with this:

Gigabyte Z490 VISION D (already bought)
    Intel Core i9-10900K
    Noctua NH-D15S CPU cooler

That is not what I read. Thunderbolt 4 is going to be of a higher standard than thunderbolt 3. It will handle 2 4 k monitors and one 8k monitor and others stuff.
Thunderbolt 3 was a lose standard.
Either way you might say it's not good for you but for me it will be for latency. It might be also for the other guy that was seeking knowledge and advise.

Tnx for te tip i compared my amd build with an intel build and found that the intel build has better components for almost the same price:wink:

If it's any good, I've done extensive research before building new PC for music production. I'm using UAD Apollo interfaces so it had to be compatible and must work 24/7 without issues. It all came down to this tried & tested configuration:

    CPU: Intel i9 9900k
MoBo: Gigabyte Z390 Designare rev.1 (thunderbolt 3 native on board)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4 3200mHz XMP 64GB
OS SSD: Samsung 970 Pro Nvme
    Storage SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SSD x 2
Projects SSD: Samsung 860 PRO 512 GB SSD x 2
    CPU cooler: Noctua NH-U12A
Case: Fractal Design Define R6 Black Pearl
    Case fans: Noctua NF-S12A ULN x 3
    GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX590 8GB DDR5 NITRO+
PSU: Seasonic X-Series 1250W (Be Quiet! is great too, you can't go wrong with any of them)

Dead quiet, rock solid, fast & furious for anything you'll ever need :winker:

Nice system but I guess you mean SSD not HDD :)
Also I would prefer a better CPU cooler like Noctua NH-D15S

That being said I think that system is way over the price limit he asked for....

    Right, corrected myself
I was thinking about NH-D15S. They both keep CPU cool very nicely, it's just NH-U12A is a bit quieter.

I didn't see price limit in OP so it was just my advice for good Intel build :)

this list looks okay, almost matching my idea, so let me mention few adjustments:
Storage and Project SSDs, I'd say 1TB 860 EVO and another 1TB 860 EVO is plenty enough, if your budget allows, you can get 860 PRO models instead
CPU cooler - if case allows (Define R6 definitely will), Noctua NH-U14S will offer better performance and at lower price and lower noise, and is significantly less bulky than NH-D15S
Case - Fractal Design Define series are top, just make sure it's version without side window (!)
Case fans - feel free to disagree with me, but for an audio workstation, silence is golden, so assuming motherboard will be able to dynamically change case fan speeds or turn off (not sure about Gigabyte, but my ASUS mobo can, even if those fans are non-PWM basic 3-pin fans), I'm running my Define R5 with NH-U14S overclocked i7-5820K without intake fans spinning at all most of the time (unless cpu reaches 55-60°C which usually doesn't even) so paying for fans which don't even spin is waste of money,
sacrificing few more °C for zero noise is definitely something to consider with audio workstation build
GPU: if it's audio-only build, just don't buy any, you'll save yourself troubles and PCIe slot  aforementioned 9900K (or any other high-end Intel Core series cpu) already has decent integrated graphics chip, which will consume gigabyte or two from the RAM (not a problem with 64GB ram setup),
if you need powerful graphics card, make sure you get a model which can operate without fans spinning when idle (my GTX 1080 Ti STRIX can, so again, zero noise most of the time, temps hovering around 50°C)
PSU: my personal preference would be 80+GOLD rated fully modular EVGA psu, something like EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G5 (750W) would do totally fine
Audio interface: RME HDSPe series card without a doubt, depending on what I/O you need, something like HDSPe AIO will offer 2/2 XLR line's and heaphone out, something like HDSPe RAYDAT will give 32/32 over ADAT optical pipes

aand not a coincidence the specs are kind of hackintosh-ready

You guys have much more knowledge than me in building a system, but I feel like enough storage especially SSD storage is underrated. Even having an HDD might come in handy, since over time its crazy how many files you rack up. Running out of storage is one of the most annyoing things if you ask me.

Actually I have now changed my mind and buying Noctua NH-U12A CPU cooler on my new system. It actually very close to matching NH-D15S and NH-D15. It can even handle Intel Core i9-10900K

By the way this thread starter posted one post and never came back. Strange

    i7 10700K
Z490 Vision G or D (if you need Thunderbolt & Wifi)
Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer II 240 (no RGB, just quality AIO watercooling)

BTW, if it's not urgent waiting for Intel 11th gen RocketLake could be an option too.
