so i converted some akai cd...
i did make a new place in live , it was my archive akai format folder...
i clicked on it to get to the converted stuff but also some akai iso with fancy icon showed up...i did drag it into a midi track...and boom it began to convert all into adg adv

From the Ableton docs:
Sampler supports the following sample formats:

• GigaStudio
• EXS
• SoundFont
• Kontakt (version 4.2.1 or earlier)
• AKAI S1000
• AKAI S3000

Note that in Live 9 and later, the import function is no longer available for Akai S - series samples. It is possible however to import samples using an older version of Live, such as Live 8 (available in our download archive).

Kontakt .nki files can be imported only from .nki files that are of version 4.2.1 or older. This is because Native Instruments changed the Kontakt file format with version 4.2.2.

Live supports the following sample loop formats:

• REX files are supported in Live Standard and Suite. These can be loaded into audio tracks and will play at the tempo of the Set. REX files can also be sliced to a new MIDI track.
• ACID Loops are supported, as they are WAV files with additional ACID loop tags. Live will not, however, make use of the specific ACID loop tags.
• Soundtrack Loops are supported as they are in AIFF format. Live will not, however, make use of the specific Soundtrack loop tags.

 

oops i forgot..i did this with live 9.77 on old x86 surf and warez test box

it was an akai iso...dunno if its real akai s format like from a hardware akai cd

 

Good to know it still works with v9!
If your x86 OS can't read the ISO file system then I would say it is in AKAI format.

 

yeah no chance to read , only cdxtract and the other 2 like ones can read it

I bet that the libraries converted in Live 9 can be opened in Live 11. If all fails, installing an old Live 9 version might be an option.

 

seems there were several programs that convert akai cds until recently. I also got tha “back to the old” bug a while back, I spent a lot of time with akai legacy sample cds until I managed to extract the crappy samples, I ended never using gbs of dry uninspiring halfworking conversions. luckily enough the drive they were on crashed lol
