i bought an audient id4 which comes with cubase LE for free then u changed my pc so i needed to reactivate my license but cubase LE wasn't showing in my products. Why? I called them up, gave them the necessary infos and to my surprised the german man said "ahh it's because you was using a cracked e licenser" at this point I was so confused. I said what do you mean? then he said you have over 30 licences on that licenser. Then I was like no cubase LE for me? and he said na..

Bit foolish of them because a lot of people start out with a basic package and upgrade, I went from Elements and up to Artist and am working my way up to Pro and bought another Elements for another pc in the recent sale at 40 quid and will probably upgrade that next year.

You're right, but I think is clear that the 30+ licenses are from cr*cked Steinberg software

 

it does make sense to be honest. but i had no idea they were on it so much

 

in a strange turn of events sterinberg emailed with the instructions to reactivate + they updated my account with cubase LE

 

Is LE worth installing? I have a code for it, but the limitation on tracks puts me off. I don't need it, I have Ableton, Reason and Studio One 5 to keep me busy

Imo it only makes sense if you want to check out if you like the workflow and then upgrade from it later as it is free but eligible for upgrade discounts.

I found LE was useful on my mobile rig for recording live gigs. I didn't really need more than eight tacks
live. That also meant I could use a cheap laptop as the CPU load of SE is not that high. I could then transfer
those tracks to my main DAW and Cubase Pro for further overdubbing, fx processing, mastering etc.

Tho these days I mainly use Studio One.

I tried LE but there was no way to repitch an audio file without timestretching, fucking ridiculous

 

it's actually still there. but i went ahead and got the Pro version (artist upgrade deal)

btw, never buy it directly from steinberg. they have it for £284.00 and amazon £233
