The other day I was talking with a fellow here about how people arrive here and to AZ, goggle results and that jazz.
I discovered there're threads in Reddit named "where is this sister site they talk about in that audiosex forum?"
At least is in the piracy subreddit and not in the porn one...

You'd think people know how to search, the answers are in various threads

I have a wild imagination but I can't put myself in the shoes of a beginner when looking for warez. Hobbie hazards...
I was forced to buy my first PC due to college when I was seventeen and the only thing I liked, coming from a Commodore Amiga, was how easy was to copy software. I mean you just copied from floppy to floppy with the regular msdos copy command.

Edited: oh, and the sound card when I discovered you could sample shit

I think it's mysterious that people found their way here without coming via the sister site. I mean, I love this place and all, but only because it's the brother site to the other place. If I was just looking for an audio discussion forum, I'm not sure I'd ever find my way here.

I came from the other side, I went from Atari ST to PC when I started coding commercially. Copies were passed around college, it was viral if you think about it.

Cool. They were remarkably similar. With a 68K. Amiga was slightly better with games but the ST was the first personal computer with a MIDI port if I recall correctly.
Yeah, the first warez hub I remember at least

Yes, and up until just 10 years ago the ST was still the most accurate machine for MIDI with abarely 1ms clock drift. 68000 was a great chip, I did plenty of assembler on that beast

Mine was with a Juno 106, a Dr.Rhythm, and a Tascam Portasomething; probably around the same time as your Spectrum with the squishy keys!
Did you have the ZX81 before, or not?

I didn't start programming until the PC in college.
Well, unless 5 lines of Amiga BASIC to use the text-to-speech counts.
But it was a blast. Say my pal Chris enters my room, I press enter and 5 seconds later suddenly the robotic voice goes
"Hi Chris, you're ugly as fuck. How do you like that?"

That left them messed up for a whole day

If a dev said that to me in an interview, I would probably hire them on the spot

I recently fished my Amiga 1200 out of the garage. It hadn't been switched on for about 20 years but it booted up first time, no problems. Built to last those bits of kit.
