    hello earthlings,

I want to debunk the old myth of "Millenialls destroyed everything" - these people clearly DID NOT DO IT, since it is the industry itself's fault and its people around it who did not think about earlier attempts to adjust to technological changes and stuff against piracy blah blah so that's my opinion.

I remember a time when artists wrote, composed and sang their own songs. Now, there are off the shelf beats, lyrics and auto tune. There's no heart or soul going in to the music, its devoid of all meaning other than to make money. This has ruined the music industry for me, others may disagree. It's a generation divide, my parents said the same thing about music I grew up with.

yeah but the ppl i met, whose only intention was to make money, they usually get pretty frustrated very quick (end even contemplate suicide if their beats don't sell imagine that ...)

really have to love it. but if you do you will not quit. no matter whther you make money or get famous. ppl will always keep making music. good and bad music. whatever that is. if its with a pc or a flute of bones... no doubt.

sometimes its just sad to see that the economic factor has an overwhelming influence (on music, clothing, sex, politics, freedom, safety, health, you name it...

see ya all guys. i should spend less time in this damn forum but its too nice lol and i keep learning...

love you all. thanks for everything

The blame is not on the pigs, but on who feeds them. And all market products nowadays is defined for millennials

Of course they didn't ruin the industry; they haven't contributed to it yet, and they certainly don't run tings.

  14. I could write a book about this, but why bother? One demographic would say "spot on" and the other "totally incorrect" and neither would understand the perspective of the other.

There's also an underlying assumption that the music industry wasn't something that deserved to be ruined.

    Huh?
I remember in 05 I saw some boys in publishing, who were at retirement age, pass their positions of the last 40+ years on to wet-behind-the-ears business degree students. Those guys, in a few of the big publishers in the West End, will be 36+ now.
That's who controls a big aspect of "the industry", with worldwide license agreements and clever placements.
Music and musicians just happen to be the product.

  17. I have to admit I don't know how the industry works anymore. In the mid 80's I worked in music publishing and it was still done it in the time honoured fashion of our fathers and our fathers fathers. The money flowed through the same channels as it always had. It was a lot of lodged paperwork, stamped, dated and written in a ledger and many bank cheques were sent in the post to composers and performers.
    It seems quaint now.

Yup Prince alone would write a song himself (masterpeice) - Marvine Gaye same and countless other geniuses
Do you think Katy Perry could even write one song close to Dolly Partons 500+ ??
Enter Beyonce (50 song writers for one song, not kidding here) Booooooooooo. Thats pure product money cash:thumbsdown:

  21. And let me ask you the last time you heard a song and thought "this song really got me thinking" Unless of course you are thinking about sex. Popular music once reflected our world, our society. Protest songs, anti war songs. Now we have even more challenges, yet instead of hit songs about climate change, we are enchanted by songs that say "I want your body" Future generations will not be kind when comparing today's lyricists to Bob Dylan.
