I'm running AMD systems for a long time and for me it was always good. At the moment I have a Ryzen 7 3800X on an ASUS X370-Pro Motherboard.

 

You should go for amd i think.. The amd cpus crushed the intel cpus so that they even had to change the benchmarking system to make them seem competitive again. The avx 512 vector extension that suddenly was so important is of no use for anyone apart from people doing super computer simulations so it is a total failure in my opinion. As far as I know no DAWs or vst(i)s are actually using it so it won't benefit you in any way and without it the amd cpus are miles ahead in any benchmark whatsoever. More like lightyears even.

 

Hey fellow dutchman!!! Ive always been a fanboy of intel but due the latest progression of AMD i went all the way 3800x AMD. It is a beast! 2 weeks ago i did a kind of turture with it. I had six instances of handbrake on to compile videos for our vacantion trip. While that i also could easely extract stuf with winrar, did some audio editing alongside. Some leftover cores were like hello we arent doing anything :P

I looked at you list and it lookes fine! I dont think you need an other CPU cooler because the one you get with the 3800x is doing his job just fine! the CPU wont get hot!! And it has some nice RGB lighting if you like!

Go for your AMD list and you will be suprised!

 

Fine choice of components whichever way you go with the CPU motherboard. However, Ryzen will give you more for less money.

Yes, AVX512 is a bad joke... Intel is fucked and nobody should care.

written on my i7-6700K. Ryzen is my next step. I'm always one step behind for I don't need to worry about stability and updates... or having a PCI slot in my case. I have one of the last mbs with a PCI slot for my HDSP9652,

Regarding an AMD based Hackintosh:
I read that not all audio software (like DAW's and Audio FX /Instrument plugins) are compatible with AMD.
Is there someone that knows the very true storie about this ?
I am longing to an AMD based Hackintosh, instead of an Intel one, but i have to be sure all my DAW's and plugins can run on it without issues.

I don't know about any daw, but do know most adobe products don't run out of the box and need specific patches with each update.

I am dying with the dinosaur under my desk, I need a new machine ASAP, BUT the benchmarks of Ryzen 7 4700G are already out.

Even if you'll still be buying the above, isn't it the "worst timing" right now?

 

I would go AIO. CPU fan cooling is just not as good a liquid nor as quiet.
Me personally I would want Thunderbolt. So Intel is the only chose for me.
Either one is good AMD does have more bang for the buck right now. Just limited via thunderbolt MB.

 

Simple:

If you use Windows: Ryzen
If you rely on macOS: Intel (to minimize compatibilty issues. Waves Installer doesn't work with Ryzen)

BTW: Nobody need 1 GB System Drive SATA SSD. Go NVME. 250 is enough.

 

You can definitely skip the rgb ram, "downgrade" your cooling to the dark rock, and go for a 600-650 watt psu. While a gpu isn't necessary, yes, its still not advisable to have such a mismatch of components.

Even if you decide to stick with the gpu you've selected, at least save some money on the power supply choice, it seems incredibly overkill, unless you plan on buying a graphics card later on.

Just my opinion though, other than that, its a pretty solid configuration, it just might lock you into cpu leveraging task only.
