    This autumn. Any thoughts?
Going from X to 11. Major upgrade in about 20 years. This must be a real pain in the but for a lot of developers that already struggled with upgrading their tools without compatibility issues. I'm still on Mojave myself because even now some still don't work on Catalina. I also think that the Logic Pro X latest version will be forced to use on at least Catalina (now it's Mojave 10.14.6). Well, we have to deal with it, right? If you want to be up2date that is.

Tried it one day. Many plugins crashed LPX. Ableton Live wouldn't open. It is locked down even more than catalina. Many apps don't work. Got rid of it pretty quick. Gets worse every year..

this problem happens with every macos update and every power user and multimedia producer knows it well. To switch to Big Sur we should wait for developers to adjust their apps / plugins accordingly. I believe that we will have to wait at least 1 year from the official release before everything works

And yet again anyone who buys the first most recent new ARM mac will become the beta tester :)

The thought of updating to catalina scares me. Thinking of Big Sur right now is laughable. Hell, if it wasnt such a pain in the ass to get everything installed and running right, I might even downgrade from mojave to high sierra

At first ARM/BigSur user will be the Appleā€™s fashion victim:
low profile user with the hipster attitude: that people is the hardcore business for apple products.

Then, the geek with a lot of time in his hands will begin to fight with this new configuration:

Much later, when the compatibility issues are resolved, it will be our turn to use it:

All this has already happened and will happen again

I'm probably the biggest mac fanboy on this forum but I have been disappointed with anything past mojave and based on how big sur is going I likely won't be updating for a VERY long time.
Wtf is up with the name too? "big sur" sounds like a cringe nickname an indian executive gave his himself... Stop it Suresh, no one thinks you're cool and your new OS blows.

small question: what is the main problem with catalina and warez? expired certificates of installers, right? is there any workaround?

most installers/keygens are 32 bit which catalina doesnt support. Yes there are workarounds but im not really sure since i have no intention of trying to find out. Pretty sure the newest version of
Crossover helps mitigate some of the problems but im just talking out of my ass here

Crossover is for running Windows Apps not Mac Apps and apparently Rosetta 2 for future ARM Macs doesn't support every x86 Software so thats double bullshit :/

bullshit? Are you new to warez? 99% of keygens , even for Macs, have to be run with windows apps

Eeeek, looks like Catalina will be the end of the line for my old mid-2012 non-Retina MBP (and I'm still on Mojave for the foreseeable future, as Catalina looks like it will be total ass). Not sure I want to upgrade my hardware, either. The missus has a 13" 2020 MacBook Air for work and that fucking thing doesn't even have a power button or a dedicated power cord, just two USB-C ports. It's like an iPhone with a keyboard attached to it and a slightly bigger (non-touch) screen. 4 GBs of RAM, 250 GB hard drive. $1,200 new. Fuck you, Apple!

I also have a 2011 MBP that broke down and could probably be fixed, but that's stuck at Sierra (unless I hacked it), so why even bother? I was planning on getting it working and just running the latest version of Windoze on it via Boot Camp ... looks like I may end up doing it to this one instead.

Horrible design philosophy behind it. Suck every icon round, put iOS Menu sliders all over this bitch which are meant for touch displays and call it "an innovation and new user experience". The hoops people have to go through on the hackintosh side just to isntall it are insane, too.

My sis and her man are Mac guys, but I'm trying hard to avoid this subject when talking with them.
They're still weak recovering from the covid you know... don't wanna lead them to a drop in defenses and subsequent relapse.
I wonder if they'll also be forced to replace their Apple TV gadget for an ARM one...

    ?????
sure crossover will work for .exe keygens (native mac keygens are a rarity) but not mac installers

  21. Tim Apple said to me recently, he said "Sir, you are smarter than Steve Apple was especially now he's dead, so Sir we're going to name our new operating system, Big Sir, after you Sir" He asked me if this operating system is part of a hospital. I replied, you are a stable genius, so yes Big Sir, it is. It made him happy.
