Absolutely, I watched The Untouchables and The Hateful Eight just over a month ago (an afternoon with Morricone)...

As a human being he may has left us, as a one of a kind composer he will live forever.
    May he rest in peace.

My favorite Morricone piece is Neurotic Love from the ending credits of Bugsy (1991). It is just hauntingly beautiful. It starts at about 2:50 in this link:

When I think about the last movie you mentioned one can notice how music actually makes the difference. The plot is fairly simple and light almost boring but from start to finish the music, jazz and the touch by Morricone take you on a journey of pleasure from start to finish. It is something truly unique. The only other movie I remember like this is Canone Inverso-Making Love.

My favo's are from The Untouchables, The Thing and Red Sonja. Not that much into westerns but everyone recognises those tunes of course. I have to be honest though, he wasn't on my favo list of composers (if I had to choose a top 10). Maybe the movies he scored were a bit beneath my radar and for me it's mostly a combination movie/score (one complements the other).
