    Guess why?

Steinberg is really facing bad times, trying so hard to promote Cubase and keep eLicenser madness.

Mr. president Andreas get ready, now it is probably time that Yamaha will kick some asses.

Buy artist, upgrade to pro for free. Muziker sells artist for 269 euros and you can upgrade it to pro for free, till 28.7.

Or because of Logic's update and\or they found out about S1's new version in July. 5th version will have lots of features which were requested by Cubase users who wanted to move into S1 but couldn't due to lack of those very features.

Definitely Studio One is the new Cubase, people at Steinberg are going crazy about it.

You must be new to this. Steinberg does this every year like clockwork. Has absolutely nothing to do with Studio One or anything other than the fact that guess what, they do this EVERY year and they do another one in October/November every single year when the new version comes out too.. THEY MUST BE GOING OUT OF BUSINESS THOUGH!!!

Well, generally yes - they are losing popularity due to DAWs like S1,where you don't have to click-click-click-click-click(click). They probably won't be out of business in music and sound industry due to the rest of their products, but they really can be kicked from DAW mainstream, when they will be used by old guys only. Ofc it won't happen overnight, but it seems the don't want to really update Cubase's core, which is one of the oldest in the industry.

I think that if you don't have the upcoming new generation of young producers using your software when they start out with creating music you will get in trouble eventually because who will be buying your products say next year or in 5 years. It might work for one generation that has committed to using your software or simply is used to using it but at some point you need to attract new users or your business will fail eventually. The thought that if people will not be able to use your software for free they will go and buy your products and become your future customers just because your software is so amazing that they need to have it has some potential points of failure. First, your software has to BE amazing and it also needs to be even more amazing than the competition. Second folks need to know about it and they need to be able to experience it. People that are not willing to pay for your software won't buy it just because you take away the possibility for them to use it "for free". You can't really loose them as customers anyways so why bother to stop them from using it in the first place. Most importantly it means spending an awful lot of money for the protection which will be paid for by the people that actually buy your product which in turn won't benefit from the protection in any way because for them it only slows down their software and will bring about all sorts of potential problems. Most people will buy software because they want to be able to legally use it. If you can't afford to buy something, you simply can't buy it and if you don't want to, you won't. That narrows down the spectrum of potential customers to those who are willing and able to pay for it so why would you feel the need to protect your software from them and even make them pay for it ?
