lol the comments from hans and these industry hollywood folks just really protective of their own. its no coincidence the winner already has been in hollywood for more than a decade. hollywood protecting hollywood, doesnt matter the sector, music, film, underage kids, harvey weinstein, they should feel empowered to protect their own!

That was exactly what I thought when I saw and heard it.

Thank you for pointing that out.

The fun, I think, as the producers may have intended it, is partially the slowness of that "car race". Compare it to other racing/hunting scenes. There you can literally smell the gasoline, roaring motors etc. Maybe they wanted to have this with handbrakes on. Or, it could have been just bad editing.

However, Westworld relies heavily on virtual concepts and has a clear gaming aspect. So this little musically lighthearted intermezzo was at least a good chice.

In the original scene, they used Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries" by the way (I didn't remember that), which is a good fit, but someway worn out since Apocalypse Now. I can think of several other classics which could accompany this scene, from Tchaikowsky to Bruckner, but the task here was given to compose something. So that led to a different perception which is kind of a Westworld thingy.

Why not be happy for someone winning the compo that clearly has the skills (check his other works as well)..?

His music makes the scene funny as hell IMHO. It's a corny and unrealistic Hollywood action series for godsake, it is supposed to be entertaining for teenage boys.

I actually HATE the standard action orchestral music btw. Clichées after clichées. Everyone uses the same 2-3 Kontakt libs and instruments.
So stupid that everyone seems to follow the trend just because there are huge libraries available.

There are some incredible chipmusic out there btw, but this was just meant as a funny scene so the actual chipmusic isn't mind blowing exactly. That does not mean that he was taking a piss out of everyone. Just chill and continue to do the music you love.

Deserved winner, he did something totally different, created a story within a story that looked like it was actually there. So many bitter composers who all would have done the same shit we hear on the show. I like Alex Pfeffers view on it, he sums it up much better than I could.

And it is not definite that Kudell would have known Jar Jar Abrams; there are many positions like adr where you wouldn't ever meet the Director.

There are as far as I remember six entries - out of 11000 entries complete - we´re able to listen to.

I cannot figure out if I acually think the winner (David Kudell) is a genius or not ..... prolly not, but if you listen to the six entries he´s far the best and most imaginative of them all.

As said before:I like his score and the 8 bit stuff added to it.

NB: could be fun if we had access to the other 11000 entries too

Good reason not to support Spitfire anymore and to share Spitfire libraries everywhere around for free. :)

    Dear @Owan

-No one supporting Spitfire = no new libraies.
    -Then nothing to share.

You must be either crazy or stupid - you choose?!?

Used my brain, the winner is well deserved. The timing/mood setting is incredible. The video k37 posted is an excellent analysis and explanation, sadly all the average iq "composers" failed to think outside the box and got butthurt at their own boring mediocrity.

Yes, but the fact that entrants said that their Google Analytics showed that nobody (i.e. Spitfire) had listened to their track, implies that at least some of these would have shared private links to a non-public video?

I liked the tune. But didn't "feel it" in the scene. To me music is all about emotion, and although the composer is talented, and the track he submitted was good, I felt absolutely no emotional connection between the audio/video combo while watching and listening. No disrespect, just being honest. This would have been a great track for Adam Sandlers Pixel's. It fits there better.
