From what i understand, you can swing both straight and triplet notes

    is this correct?

when the triplet notes are played in a shuffle groove, when you swing them, are they able to reach a common point to when you swing straight notes?

i hope the above makes sense :D

All of the algo for swing are slightly different. In cubase you get to triplets at about 60-70 swing, from straight notes.

Also consider, a drummer's swing is not the same as 'swing' in cubase. Remember musicians create feel together in more subtle ways; triplets can almost be straight. Beats are early or late to varying degrees, because it feels good. Check out the intricate timing pattern of modern samba; program that too straight and it sucks.
