Haha. But seriously, those scribbles denote that it was used to trigger samples; of which I happen to know what some of them refer to!

    Correct.
They are also auctioning an Emax which makes sense (well, kind of).

I've never understood the mania behind celebrity signed stuff, or for that matter people collecting memorabilia as an investment. I would be confused if someone asked me to sign their napkin, or handed me a Sharpie and a guitar to ruin the finish. I did tell two hotties that I met at a party in the "80s that I was an astronout with Nasa and got laid for my efforts, LOL. I guess that they wanted to believe and fantasize, sometimes that's enough I guess. It's a mixed up, shook up world except for Lola. L-O-L A , Lola.

    Kinda.
There was a B-side called Horny Pony around '92, written and recorded at least a year earlier (hence 'Pony Smpls'?), but he got hold of the W-30 very early on, early enough for the Batman video. I have a few demos of Batman stuff prior to the release of the W-30 in '89, so maybe he would have used the Emax prior to '89 for the Batman thing. Or another sampler!
ie. the emax and the DX7 don't really sync up timewise for me!
Obviously, he totally rinsed the D-50 on Lovesexy and then the Batman album!
But it was all about the Oberheims really, wasn't it?
And then, to my surprise, he started using the Yamaha Motifs etc in the '90s; both studio and live.
He really got into plugins when they 'happened', and digital manipulation, on the albums that were released through the NPG website in the early '00s. Particularly with vocals, but also synth vsti's of the time.

Oh, btw. I have 'The Shit Loop'! And lots of other samples from him. He was going to release a sample pack of CDs in the late '90s, but it never got released.
So called because "That ain't the shit...THIS is the shit!"

He was so funny and nice, and more consistent for around 40 years of my life than any other human being has been or will be. Even my parents!
    I will always miss him.

Just that one? haha. Why curious?
I'm looking at them all on my SSD...along with a few hundred bootleg CDs of demos, rehearsals and gigs, and over 50 gig videos of various tours and after-parties! I have over half of the 'unreleased' work he ever recorded, when I check against all that is registered as having been recorded.
Maybe the sample pack stuff would be fun to share at AZ, yeah!
My avatar is Levi Seacer Jr's plectrum, with his sig and '7' on the other side. Got it from an after-party. One of many after-parties!
I was going to use a photo of me and Morris Hayes and John Blackwell, but I chose not to. And of course I would never have asked for a photo with P, even though I could have many times.
So now y'all know. I'm a purple funk freak! AND a musician!
    Big up, Purple Fam!

I was actually trying to be "nice" LOL
Of course, if you were able to share it all, that would be awesome.

As we all know, any professional i.e. working in music for income instrumental musician you meet will always have at least some respect for him, regardless of if they like to admit it or not.
Yet it's been very few musical colleagues (which is kind of how I see us here as) that I actually admit the bigger picture to.
I was 7 years old when I first saw him on television, and I will always remember that moment.
I was already playing an instrument at 5 years old, and liked lots of different types of music.
And something about him resonated with me. Like it was if you were hit with Bowie during the Ziggy era at just a certain age, it was always gonna get you if your heart was open to creativity, performance/theatre, and musicality. Any generation can see and dig that level of craftsmanship and skill, but when one is young it sure is potent.
I'm now close to 50. I've been gigging since 16, writing and recording since 18. Took me decades to get to the level I wanted to on keys, and so my guitar/bass/drums skills are all lower down the list! I can't even play semi-muted, slap/pull/slide Chicago style bass! My falsetto is non-existent, and I can't do the splits or dance like JB!
But he knew the formula for a good song/arrangement/recording/performance from so early on, so fluently.
I am not one to be fanatical: my father worked in tv & films so I grew up around celebs and the record button since around 7.
I have been present at performances from many of the great musicians and actors/performers. I believe he is one of those greats.
But I always keep it quiet because even other musicians (not necessarily good ones!) have still not got it; they don't get what it means to have always felt what we felt for our beloved artist. I mean there is a family,
I had links to the UK fanclub, which is how we could get to after-parties, plus eventually I had my own contacts through working in music.
The bootlegs came from him a lot of the time! But totally on the down-low. Coz we were getting early rough mixes, not even pre-mastered, that eventually would come out on Warners. Or not, as sometimes happened. They got sent to a certain person in the north of the UK, and then the whole story began for the true fans! I guess he resented not being able to release as much every year as he was creating. We all bought it when it was released commercially though, so fuck it! It worked to 'share' it prior to release, and it kept us linked with him, I guess.
You had to have lived it at the time to sense the excitement and the unity! And then when we all got together in the same place?!
The most amazing love all the time.
I was only in it for the music! But what one experienced when that man played, is beyond all others that I have witnessed. Be it in my pro life when sound engineering, or playing keys for acts, or as an audience member.
But many of us only see the 'commercial releases' version of him, and whatever timeline that the MSM purported of him, which is totally understandable.
I just hope that in time everybody will hunt down the 'unreleased' stuff for themselves; it's mostly what we had and were trading on CD at 16bit 44.1kHz and vinyl from the '80s onwards. A huge lot of it is on YT now, but there are way better quality sources out there.
Thread hijacking up in this mofo!
Apologies. But y'know. Don't know if u feel me?

Anyone want to buy my DX-7 for a vast sum of cash?
Its been in the garage in a flight case for the last 25 years

Theres a really cool bit of gaffa tape, holding the plastic end cheek on, that I have personaly scribbled on.
Its well used, and I suspect the battery may be flat.

I might be interested. Have you written anything strange on the gaffa?

Guys, I've just got back from work and have read a message form Oly which explains that I can actually upload and maintain the links myself, when I thought we had to give it to one of the 3 mods to deal with! That's what it implies in saint's info page.
So I need to eat and chill, and then it wil be up.
