Cubase Pro Whats the new ver going to be 11?

    Just wondering what it will be like are they going to change everything where you cant find it
    every ver you have to relearn what will be the ver number 10.6 11 ? I gess if its in the 10 area it will not change much but if it goes to 11 i pretty much will have to relearn it
    so it would be a good time to switch DAW :)

Is there a question in there or do you want users to speculate in what 11 will be like? .. or maybe you just wanna let people know that its a good idea to change daw.. dont get it.. but i can say this.. Cubase hasnt change much in workflow since version 5. I have Pretty much the same workflow since the erliest verisons. Same logic, new features is always integrated in a smart way.. but shure,, it sound really smart to learn something and then when a new version comes out you start learning a new one because the new version got more features and maybe even some minor changes in how you have to execute things.. so.. dont think about it.. change daw right now, no point in waiting until NOW-Dec when 11 is released..

    If Steinberg doesn't change copy protection method and give up with the eLicenser nonsense it is going to be a niche DAW in a couple of years. Many friends of mine, producers that spend $$$$ yearly on new stuff to stay updated, are now on FL Studio, Studio One, Ableton & Logic... someone even prefer Reaper, Reason and Cakewalk over Cubase and decided to not upgrade old legit versions.
    Very few are still talking about Cubase, young producers don't know it even exist, sadly it is very closed to become a "no more relevant" product very soon.
    It is just a myth that Pro Tools and Cubase are for professional use, it is actually the opposite.

    I must say that, to an extent, I agree. There are loads of nice DAWs around and I can't see anything special in using Cubase, actually some things are just better and easier to do in Studio One, Reaper, Ableton, free Cakewalk Sonar, Bitwig, FLS etc. really. Pro Tools have been so marginalised in the last few years, and so could Cubase. It's just too much hassle with copy protections and proprietary plugins like in PT case. It's rubbish.

    Just any nice, cheap *multi-platform* DAW [meaning at least Windows, macOS, and Linux, but maybe also iOS and Android which are loved by youngsters generally] that supports VST2 and VST3 properly, has Elastique, reasonably good MIDI and sample editing, is easy to work with, is the winner. Young people tend to prefer all the DAWs I mentioned to Cubase and PT. Only old farts like me still consider Cubase or PT for work, but I moved on from Cubase to Reaper 13 years ago and never looked back. :wink:

    And in the end they're all digital, so there is no difference in audio quality. The quality of results depends 100% on your knowledge and skills, the hardware you use, and the plugins you use, up to a point. The quality of a good DAW lies in the code stability/reliability/optimisation for low latency audio, flexibility, functionality, easy and fast workflow for non-techs who've never worked in a studio with a mixer and racks of hardware and patchbays, and HASSLE FREE COPY PROTECTION. :metal:

    I knew about Pro Tools. To be precise, Pro Tools were the recording standard de facto and still being used in many pro recording studios.
    Didn't know about Cubase. You sure it's so bad for Cubase?

    On a side note. I feel weird talking productive things with you my dear nasty comrade. :rofl:

    You can switch DAWs any time you want. I would do it when there is one you like better.
    Not because of "those bloody fuckers put that button elsewhere"
    BTW I know a guy who switched from Version 5 to 10, and even he managed to work on.
    Companies have to change things. Would we really want to use the same GUIs from like two decades ago?

    Cubase has been called dead for 10+ years maybe even longer and I don't believe it. I'm German so there might be a bias here but I see a lot of professional producers that work with Cubase. Some work with StudioOne, Logic or FL and the professional mixing Studios use mostly ProTools but there are many using Cubase. I personally doubt that paying users, which are the important ones for the live or death of a software, are abandoning the software they use for years just because of a dongle that can be put into a USB slot and be forgotten unless you travel a lot for production with a laptop. This is an argument I hear since they released the elicenser and it never became true.

    Yeah just because he knows three people that switched from Cubase to something else, doesn't mean the entire industry is leaving it behind. Steinberg is very well entrenched in the digital audio industry and have been since the days of the Atari ST. They're not going anywhere, and its not like the dongle thing is new for Cubase, users have ALWAYS dealt with that when it comes to Cubase. I still have my old parallel port dongle for VST24 and VST32 heh.

    For those who are not so young please remember that quite few years ago Steinberg was the leader with Cubase.
    Today Steinberg is just trying to sell updates to few affectionate users, can you call that a winner business strategy? If you want, you can keep talking about how good and effective is the eLicenser strategy to avoid piracy but the numbers count and numbers are money, the real fact is that Steinberg is losing money... a lot of money.

    Cubase is an awesome DAW with extensive features and a professional workflow. No doubt about that. Problem is that there are so much pirated DAWS on the market so that these ones are automatically shifted to a higher platform because they are FREE! I.M.H.O is this not transparent at all. Cubase PRO X will never be properly cracked as long as the stay with the hardcoded syncrosoft dongle. This does not mean that it isn't a good DAW. I use it since the beginning they launched it on on the Atari ST as PRO 24. It's expensive but in any way an awesome DAW!

    lol ihave have cubase 10 but still use 5, because 90% of all my 32 bit favourite plugs get blocked in cubase 10, the only thing i miss in cubase 5 is the 64 bit support, jbridge dont works correctly and im to stupid to use rewire with fl studio or studio one, and i miss a midi to audio bounce in place function

    I can agree with the fact that many young producers start out with cracked software and that it also might be a good strategy to have a crackable or no protection to get users into your product. It was like this for me when there was basically Logic, ProTools and Cubase as an option. But I also see a lot of young producers on YouTube interested in Cubase because they see older producers use it and Steinberg is also promoting to them on these channels.

    As I mentioned before I heard all of these arguments basically since 2003 or so when they released the first version of the elicenser. If they didn't go away in 17 years I doubt they will go anywhere soon. I'm also sure they would've changed their minds if the dongle had a serious impact on sales in such a long time.

    Even before eLicenser, from the very beginning, they used a very basic proprietary dongle to protect the software from piracy. Time has changed and today many people buy software after trying it for quite a longer time then a normal demo trial. I'm not saying Steinberg will die soon but fading out is increasingly possible and extremely probable. Not to mention the archaic development compared to other DAW, can I humble suggest them to rewrite most of the code and realign to today standards?

    Cubase is the standard for orchestral composers. Its far from dead & to be honest if producers like Ian Kirkpatrick can shit out albums like Future Nostalgic its got a bright future... Im still trying to let go of Abletons workflow, but Cubase offers way more control & articulation sets alone convinced me to switch... Hopefully 11 revamps the disgusting 90s looking GUI, unlimited file count in Mediabay, ability to use symlinks in Mediabay & I’m hoping some other redundant things are finally tossed.

    I bought Cubase 10, but was shocked when they ask for more money for the 10.5 update. Okay I can understand when they release like Cubase 11, but a regular update like 10.5 that is crazy greedy (Adobe level greedy). Anyways I use Ableton mostly
