Being transgender is not a mental illness, but any kind of discrimination - yes - it is. In many states, just for what you wrote, you would be accused of homophobia and could have trouble with the law.

Most of us have been pushed away by how toxic this forum is, and only occasionally read it when relevant topics pop up on the sister site's topic banner.

The fact that even the site admins can't be arsed to check users' gender before misgendering them makes it clear how supportive this place is, and the above use of transgender people as the punchlines for jokes, and being called mentally ill only cements it in place.

I will now go back to my position of being logged out, thank you.

 

It's a mistake: if you don't fight for your rights, who will?
Option 1: Try to explain your point of view: that could be useful to people who know nothing about the topic
Option 2: Report any sexist and discriminatory thread to get it deleted

Option 1 is more constructive
I think it is correct to explain that human rights involve everyone: sooner or later we can all be overwhelmed by the most domineering: this is wrong and it doesn't have to happen

Credit where it is due.
When someone posts best petition ever as a thread header, it is likely to encourage many people to investigate.
Then on arrival, thread is hidden due to the volume of negative posts. This indicates clearly that the TA has successfully created near-perfect click-bait. - Because the volume of others that did the same thing also affirms this.

In my case, after being sucked in twice, once to look then twice I unhid the content - I get the facepalm award.
