Nice man! Techno is far from my usual listening habits... Both tracks are crackers... Seeing the modular racks in action was enjoyable too!

    Good work :like:

Thank you all for the kind comments.

It is about the price of a car. 13K €.

  9. I would love to hear how these tracks would sound without kick and hats. You have developed some amazing sounds and I would like to listen to those. I understand this is German Techno and that's what German Techno does, but my inquisitive mind asks what would propel the track rhythmically without the percussive elements?
Allow me to reference Tangerine Dreams "Movements Of A Visionary" from Phaedra.

    Hi Lenny,
Thanks for the interesting comment and reference to TD.
Besides percussions, it all depends on the subgenre you would like to hear/produce.

I personnally like tracks using chords and pads (especially glitched and granular textures) put in movement.
Movement is really easy to achieve and automate with modular, using envelopes generators and envelope modulators.

Delay and reverb also help to transform recorded loops into new ideas, supporting a song progression.
Without a beat, i assume it could be used for ambient stuff and drones that i also like a lot.

But for sure, percussion is the core element as techno should be enjoyed in clubs.
Let me know if you have any further comments. I wish you a nice day

  11. Ah yes, of course, but I was listening to it in my home which bears little resemblance to a club and perhaps the listening needs of those not actually in clubs is something that could be considered. I am not suggesting ambient music and I don't think the tracks you posted would sound ambient, they would still be techno tracks but without the trademark and now, very, very old drum pattern. I made techno music from 1989 until 2007. I still love making electronic music but I find nothing new in hearing 4/4 kick, snare and hats. Tedious.

I've always been a fan of such equipment, but even today it is too expensive for me, sounds great :)

Love it! What I'd like even more is if you could tell us -maybe even live, wearing a headset- which knobs you're turning and what patches you've made.

Thanks, that is for sure a good idea, since people are often interested in setup explanations or tutorials.

On the other hand, I have always been looking for "no talking" videos, but i consider more and more getting some equipment to record both voice and video without hustle.

With better recording setup soon, it will be much more fluid to record patches from scratch.

Kick is not sample based, it is synthesized from the Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter module which gives good results in few time.

I use samples for other drum elements, such as claps and cymbals as it sounds more natural. Will maybe try dedicated modules later (Mutant snare/clap/hats modules for example)

Thanks for picking up on my idea! None talking vids are fine too, you could put the same info in subtitles or text popups, but that would probably be more work. But yeah, I'm really interested in how to get the most out of a modular system. To me, they're so much more appealing then a soft synth, and sound much better, too.
