Over the years I've spent about $5000 on music software, expansions presets, updates etc etc. Then as I got older I became more and more poor so I don't have money to spend on music software anymore. The only legit thing I use now is Studio One Pro. So recently I decided to scale down and only install what I know I'll use instead of trying to be a software collector, I wanted to see how much money it would cost to completely go legit on everything.

Little by little I looked up the prices and added it all up, after down sizing I currently have approximately $54,000 US worth of music software in my computer, every bit of it downloaded from here.

$54,000!! That is more than my life is worth!

So I wanted to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this all possible, if I never downloaded another thing I still will have more than enough to last the rest of my life.

I can't thank the following people enough, I'm sure I left other people out who have helped along the way but just to mention a few who are top of mind, in a way you have saved my life. God Bless you all

Funny thing is it's not like a million synths and effects, I really scaled down hard but it adds up, like Superior Drummer 3 with every SDX and EZX and midi pack, and the 2TB of Kontakt libraries, and every Waves plug in, just those 3 right there is a ton of money.

sometimes i think the same, i think everyone take what he get, when the HDD is full and crash, you choose ur favourites and become wise

but i often think some software is to expensive and not worth the money, so try before buy, if u like then buy it one day if you re a milliadaire,
but earlier everything was more expensive when u had to buy all in hardware,
everything go bigger faster and better quality

i agree thanks for make it happen

I wouldn't say "literally nobody" because all the plugins I bought I paid full price for, Superior 2, Ez drummer 1, a bunch of SDX's EZX's and midi packs, EZMix 1, Rob Papen Blue 1, Trillian, Native Komplete Synths, Guitar Rig, Spire, Kuassa, etc etc, all the legit stuff I bought I paid full price for, maybe that makes me a sucker but I only install what I use now.

When Xfer Serum got released, it was available for $129.
Really wanted to get that deal but had no money left over and when I got my salary later,
it was at $189... So I also had to pay the full price (bought it a couple of months later then).

What I want to say: I always get the good deals when it's too early or too late
so I feel with you, Mud Jones.

$54000 is worth more thank your life? So you're approximately worth how much? I need a permanent audio Engineer so I can focus on my craft. I'm not rich myself so give me the best deal, thanks!

I'm probably not to thank in your list, as I'm only a messenger.
But AudioUtopia deserve it's place in the thanks list as they came up with few but never done things.

Also, it may be possible to short down the plugin list a bit more being specific on certain things like,
do you really need all the SD3 expansions? Are you working in every genre?
How many channel strip do you need?
    How many pianos?
    Etc...

I say you, but obviously I think we as I've been doing this process recently.

The advantage of doing this is to clean your workflow and concentrate on making music.

I used to joke about this, that I would collect stuff and hoard, but I've recently started to suffer from it greatly. I only hoard and don't produce anymore. Thinking about wiping my drive and starting from scratch with stock plugins and a small handful of selected tools and libraries.

@Mud Jones I've been wondering the same question just the other day, and I thought it wouldn't be just a couple of hundred euro... :) All the audio software I *use* costs way less than $54000, but the software I have at disposal for experimenting with, testing, and whatnot costs a lot, as I've been a collector and tester for more than 20 years.

"Try before buy" is my philosophy, but also "simplify" and "cut down". I'm focusing on the sound, quality of processing, and the quality of programming, too. To me, It also matters how good the developer whose plugins I'm using is, and what copy protection is being used.

TBB made it possible for me to buy only programs and plugins I really like and use. There are no words to thank enough groups like H2O, AiR, Arctic, R2R, V.R and all other contributors over the years who made it possible, since I'm also one of those "barely make ends meet" guys, and a huge audio and music enthusiast since late 80s. Always trying to stay true to myself and enjoying every second of it.

    Thank you, and cheers!

Edit: I don't use Waves, nor a ton of Kontakt libraries. And I'm focusing on hardware, since I like dirty stuff... very dirty, but also pristinely dirty, without having to use 8x oversampling and 96k or more. :P
