    Hello everyone ! :bow::bow::bow:
I was recently gifted by a family member the following gear  :

As you can see i got plenty of software with them, including Steinberg Cubase Le & Retrologue 2 :
    https://audient.com/arc/
My question is this  :
Is it worth it to upgrade to the full version of Cubase 10.5 since i'm a full time Logic Pro X user ?
What will benefit me the most ?
Any advise from Cubase 10.5 users ?

Last time i've done complete projects in Cubase was the time of Cubase SX v2/v3 so i'm sure a lot has been changed since then.
Thank you in advance, looking forward to your answers :)

    Yo @SpyFx ✪!

Congrats on the new gear! I own an Audient ID4 and its awesome... Guessing Evo4 will be equally awesome.

I am also a long time Cubase user (since sx3).i am using 10.5 Pro as of now.

Its a world class software and has everything you would need in a DAW.I love it and will never change as I'm fully comfortable with all the shortcuts and quick keys.

Having said that, whether or not its better then Logic Pro is debatable. Most of my mac based friends are on Logic and they swear by it. Perhaps you should use the LE version for a while and see if you enjoy it. Cubase Pro 10.5 has a million features which the LE version wont have... its also probably the most expensive DAW on the market.

If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer. I use it every single day.

    Regards

Been using Cubase since Atari days, I love it, its my instrument as such but its had its ups and downs. They are struggling at the moment with the graphics engine in Windows not being entirely resizable, hopefully will get fixed in v11. Other than that is a wonderful creative and feature packed enviroment.
It requires a bit more effort than Logic, theres usually at least 3 ways of doing the same thing, not all of them obvious, but then its not quite so rigid as Logic. You might miss your ESX as the sampler channel is not quite as good, but the included VariAudio 3 is fantastic for vocals. As usual for DAWS it horses for courses, but Cubase is one big bad mother of a DAW.
BTW if your doing music for film and games I would consider taking advantage of the Nuendo crossgrade offer thats on at the moment.

    Man,
Many daws share the same (many) features as cubase, but the way they integrate it is just amazing.
Take the elastic algorithm from zplane: everybody uses it. But it is so well integrated into cubase, you don't even know you are using it, in many areas of the app..
Eg, you import a loop, automatically cubase displays the transients, you can edit, timestretch , etc.
You select the file, open variaudio, you can now edit the vocals like playing a game.
You open the mediabay(file browser), you can choose to start/sync the playback, at 1/1, 1/4..1/8 of bar... you can even enable the "auto adapt file to tempo" option, and now each file will be previewed, perfectly synced with the tempo.... perfect when you are playing a beat, and want to add that cool perc loop, or closed hihat, from that folder that contains 1000 perc/hihat loops... and your files will be previewed and synced with your beat....
You have the new dialog sync tool... that could easily be sold for 200 or 300 bucks, as a standalone plugin/ app, also uses the variaudio/elastic algorithm, in some crazy way : select source file, select target files, press process... and that 10-voices choir is now perfectly synced ! Looks like wizardry!

The midi editor... well, it's 'JUST ' 30 years of ideas and optimizations.... you can, eg, select several midi files (also audio ) and have them all displayed at once, on the same edit window.... each midi track with its own color...
....or you can display your midi notes by colors... one color for chords... one color for velocity... one color for expression...
Once you try the midi editor in cubase, you won't be able to use anything else.

There are thousands of options... the 3 hour long hangouts videos, by Greg ondo, on YouTube, are amazing... very often, he shows incredible things, like clicking on something while holding some keys... and suddenly, that thing that would take 40 minutes to do, cubase did it in 1 second...

You have an idea, you want to do something ? Cubase has a function, a shortcut, to achieve that.!

and when you take the time to use the midi or project logic editor, and you save your macros, you can then create macros, that use shortcuts, macros, logic macros... and you can assign all that craziness, to a simple keyboard shortcut....and you can perform something in once second, that could otherwise take one hour to do...

Yes, cubase is just mindblowing! Too bad steinberg now have many products to support, and they can't allocate as many resources to cubase as they did many years ago... as a result, the cubase updates become smaller and smaller (content wise...) while costing more.
