you could try a plugin called subsynth or the free (with less features) version subfilter

I own real analog gear and find myself using hardware almost exclusively lately. There is a lot to the intimacy of owning hardware and the subtle nuances of learning it's imperfections, possible limitations and of course hitting that sweet spot where an instrument can really shine. Vst vs. hardware is like watching porn compared to actual sex IMO. I never feel truly inspired with scrolling a vst's presets for the most part.
Monark or Legend gets closest to hardware analog imo. A nice unison stack does the trick usually, but also a bit of chorus (think Roland Dimension D) goes a long way in fattening things. Sausage Fattener, never felt the need to use it on a bass but could help.
MS1's are uber cheap and can get subby and dirty as hell.

If you really fel the need to go the hardware route to capture that magic then you really must personally audition them in a shop to get a true feel for what you'll actually be getting before parting with any cash.

FYI here's a side-by-side comparison of the Moog Mini Phatty, Moog Minataur & Behringer Model D synths:

Going by the above, the Minatuar definitely has the most prominent 'bass' signature...

I physically own a model D btw and have never regretted the purchase - for a fraction of the price, it really does sound 99.85363% like a minimoog!

The Sub Phatty sounds great but so does the Phatty and I actually prefer the slim phatty which takes up a lot less space than the sub which is quite bulky but built like a tank. I also prefer that the slim phatty has 100 presets rather than the 16 on the Sub which I find a bit irritating. But either will fulfil your low end bass dreams although I believe the slim takes a bit longer to stabilise the tuning.

First sample is from VST Reaktor MS-20

    Second sample is from Analog

    Almost any difference.

Yup, you could literally grab a dream hardware setup from the guy & he probably wouldn't even notice...

  14. How can you say that when I had previously replied with this

I have a lot of hardware. Virus ti2, Arturia Matrixbrute, Minimoog, Moog Sub 37, Roland JD-XA, Roland System 1-m and more. None of it is necessary for a big fat bass line. What is needed isn't even solely a big fat bass vst. It's how you've arranged it, how you've treated it, how you've mixed it. What sort of space have you given it in your arrangement? Has it got enough headroom for it to be the driving instrument you want? What is on your master bus? There are many aspects that come together to create a huge bass sound. One synth is not the single piece of the puzzle.

I researched the Behringer D and found that it gets out of tune, it required some tweaking on the board...so that scared me away from it.

I agree with Gyro. Some sounds do replicate on hardware and vsti pretty good but some dont.

Have a look at Valleypeople Dynamite, too when you are at softube site. It's a dbx160 on steroids. It's has insane cotrols but it's incredible on kicks and bass.
