So I have upgraded to Mojave recently and had a copy of Altiverb from the open SSH crack working perfectly on High Sierra. After the update it wasn’t working. I suppose with the upgrade it created a new .dylib and so I had to do that process again. I disabled SIP and replaced it, backing up the newly created lib file. I did see that safari suddenly quit on me. I restarted and enabled SIP again but this time my mac boots up and all i can see is a black screen with the cursor. I had to disable SIP to be able to see my screen and boot normally again but Safari doesn’t work and I wouldn’t want to carry on without SIP enabled.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Not sure what to tell you regarding that one -- I had openssh installed on Sierra, upgraded to Mojave, had to reinstall openssh and experienced none of those problems. In fact, I had issues with Mojave that I was concerned were related to openssh, replaced it with the original .dylib for while and reverted back when it was obvious openssh wasn't the cause. And I'm not even sure why SIP or openssh would affect Safari one way or another. You may have deeper issues that need to be resolved. Try downloading and running Onyx (free utility), CleanMyMac and TechTools Pro, along with the usual PRAM reset and SMC reset, especially if something is causing black screen at startup.

Logic Pro X 10.5 or higher no longer supports OpenGL for its plugins, only Metal for GUIs, so that Altiverb version 7 is very old. If I'm not bad, it's from 2012 so you'll have to go back to an old version of Logic

 

Theres the answer. Been wondering why Altiv hasnt worked since latest update.... it does still work in latest Ableton Live though

 

there is a H00k version where it uses the applications/ilok folder instead of your system folder, try that one (got mine on audionews)

 

Someone knows how to fix it now ? I ve Mojave i ve installed with a new version for 7.0.5 without disabling the system but the problem persists

Altiverb started working again after Big Sur update. Dont know why, but it does for me...>???

 

Guys, all the older versions used a .dylib that is not relevant now, and the classic sign for it being the wrong .dylib is how it will either blank out the graphics of your daw or something, or I guess the whole system as you are all describing.
Replacing the .dylib, and hopefully correctly too, is a big matter.
Usually if it has been correctly replaced, which is not straight forward, then only certain guis will blank out if it's the wrong .dylib for the system.
What you are all describing might imply that you have deleted your original and not replaced it at all.

There might not be a fix. But, if you have another PC or Mac around. Try this plugin, www.audiogridder.com. You can run the latest ver available from the sister site.

 

Good little plugin I agree, but then they wouldn't need it if they had the other computer.
And Audiogridder wouldn't work either if they didn't have the other computer with an older OS on and used one of the same .dylib options.
IE. it is of no help in this situation.

 

If the user has an extra windows set up on PC or Mac(bootcamp) then yes audiogridder can help if they load the latest Altiverb (windows version) there.

 

Ooooh! Yes, you are quite correct. I hadn't thought of doing that sort of (convoluted) thing. Latency.
Latency of the audio and MIDI syncing. Not my brain! lol.

 

If the latency is too much on your system then just print the track once setup of the reverb is to your liking.

 

Uh, I wasn't saying i had a problem. I just wouldn't do all that to have a live Altiverb happening!
Very true what you say though. Yet that implies the better workflow would just be to transfer some files in the first place, and eliminate any convoluted Audiogridder action between machines? Just do the Altiverb work in a daw in one computer and save the file. Put file on other machine.
I did actually use that Vienna related software okay though.
Not always a huge need as I'm not a film-score composer! haha

In Logic if you go into the " manual load " all the reverbs are there.
There's no editing or GUI but they all work. Better than nothing I guess.
