The all-in-one plugins I've been using such as CLA vocal and Vocal Finalizer provide built-in reverb and delay. Many virtual instruments also provide them. In this case, should I use other reverb separately? Or is it ok using only the built-in reverb of them?

eg1) Using reverb in Vocal Finalizer and using reverb in send channel.

eg2) Using reverb in Vocal Finalizer and not using reverb in send channel.

eg3) Not using reverb in Vocal Finalizer and using reverb in send channel.

you can do eveything to make the sound you need. there are no rules.
sometimes I use 2 different reverbs for 1 sound for original effect.
this is the essence of creativity.

My point is if the built-in reverb and delay are good enough in the mix. My apologies but it's knda complicated to explain with text. That's why I offer the examples.

  5. I find it's better practice to keep the vocal isolated on its own channel and send it to an auxiliary. I set up 3 or 4 different reverbs on the auxes and choose the one that sits best. Have an auxiliary for a fast left right delay for widening too. When you are working on your vocal sound you want to be able to get it tonally and dynamically controlled and this is best done when the signal is raw. You'll then want to add reverb and FX. When soloed the vocal and FX might sound great but in the context of the track, you'll possibly have too much reverb and this is why having them separate will enable you to pull back the effects or push the dry vocal. You can see now why I don't like having an all in one vocal strip.

it always depends on many factors, ranging from the quality of the source to the model of monitors.
but I prefer plugins like "one plugin - one effect."
a plug-in with several effects distributes resources to each effect, which affects the speed of calculations and the quality of processing. and another reason - a bug in one effect can affect the operation of the entire plugin.
a single-effect plugin uses all resources to process a single effect.
this is a very primitive explanation of my position, but my english is not enough for a full explanation of technical processes.

very situational, the reverb in the CLA plugins is decent enough to use it but if you think that it doesnt fit then deactivate that section and add a reverb plugin
you can also combine both the internal reverb/delay and add an external one with a seperate plugin, be vary that you have to play with settings like pre-delay and room size with both if they cause problems

I'm the exact opposite, I want one plugin that does everything. On every channel, for any instrument. And it should only have one button and no knobs.

  10. I have the boys down in R&D working on it now. Almost done. But they want to know should the one button be on/off or just bypass?
