    Hi guys,
Any way to get three dimensional panning in Stereo field? Of course I am talking about something which is Stereo compatible and has minimum phase issues.
I see all these VR and 3D tools available but they seem not to be compatible for Stereo music.
I am looking for something which gives me flexibility while I am mixing in Stereo. I want the sound placement to be more realistic. With EQing and filter I can just go so far. It honestly does not give that + %10 boost in realness of sound heard.
I have tested these crappy plugins that claim to be placing sound in 3D space but most of them are trash. I am looking for something which gives me flexibility for manipulation of stereo field.
    Please share some knowledge.
    Thanks

No guys. I have tested these stuff.
I am looking for something like this.
However, it should be something that is also available on sister site! This is not available and it will never be.

There's a new kid in the block, vaccinated by Team-VR in the sister site. Didn't test it but check it out, though it doesn't seem to be better than the alternatives others have posted.

The best panorama tool without reverberation is either Virtual Sound Stage 2 or Merging Technologies PanNoir depends on what you need it for.

It does not matter if it is Pro Tools only or VST. What matters is a good quality panner!
    Suggestions?

Does anybody know what professional mix men use for panning? I guess it is something like this.
    Anything close to that?!

    Automation mostly!
Obviously some timesaving tools can be creative to play with too.

I think these binaural/ambisonic based 3D panning solutions have their place, but cannot and should not replace your basic LCR panning and delay-based ambience. They're like some extra icing for the cake, but don't work good enough to replace mama's oldfashioned cake.

Probably the best way is to combine both: use the binaural/ambisonic tools of your choice for some of your "far out" ultra spread mix elements, kinda like creating a separate secondary headphone-only mix which sits in the background and if you lose it because of phase issues, nobody will really care too much.

Meanwhile all the primary elements in the track are mixed as usual, with LCR techniques and attention paid to phase issues in mono.

I used to be very excited about Ambisonics too, until I realized how much it messes with the frequency spectrum (and is kinda unavoidable unless you go up to ridiculous high orders). Binaural obviously doesn't work at all, unless headphones are used - so in my mind it's not suitable for any primary mix elements unless you're sure people will only listen to your track on headphones... Which btw isn't far from the truth, and gets to be more so every day, but we kinda push it out of our mind to pretend club systems still matter.

So true. What's even worse for me, personally: they call it "8D audio". Wtf? I guess they count as dimensions the right-left-up-down controller faders, but then there's still one dimension missing.

My best guess the 8th dimension is the normalized position of the marketing guy's hand in his romantic tool while shaking it until it spitted the genius term "8D audio".

    Otherwise, I'm out of ideas.

I had seen it before. It is more towards making movement in elements of mix than accurate positioning.

Just type in google "binaural vst" and you will find what you need
