I guess it really depends on point of view - to be clear, I'm not advocating Apple in any way, just stating some matters which Windows users don't like to see either:

    1) whole "future proofing" thing is nonsense, most users when they want to upgrade cpu, they need to buy new motherboard, ram etc.. which is almost as new computer already, same goes for NVME drives, faster network connectivity etc.. and in laptops with restricted thermals, it's pointless to upgrade components which tend to heat more while performing better, upgrading laptop is a bad idea in general, not buying reasonable spec right away is bad approach to laptops for sure

    2) I don't remember any company would give a fck about their hardware for more than regular warranty period, Apple is among those, that's all,
I'd say it's even worse with companies like ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte etc.. which usually don't support laptop for more than 2 years, and companies like HP, DELL, Lenovo etc.. make already crappy hardware which cannot be replaced by generic aftermarket parts either (motherboard, power supply etc..)

    3) it's not far from what Microsoft is doing, with aforementioned manufacturers it sometimes happen new system build breaks previous drivers and compatible newer ones are nonexistent, while on the other hand Apple explicitly cuts off older devices which they no longer want to maintain drivers for

    4) indifferent to majority of Window softwares, no developer provides support for legacy operating systems, despite they could work just fine

    5) I can agree on that, it's questionable when will that happen, I can imagine ARM launch this year with MacOS 10.16 but since "workstations" like MacPro or MacMini are pretty capable with Intel cpus, Apple will probably not hurry pushing them away from market just yet, maybe we won't see new MacBooks with Intel cpus but again, current generation is probably fine for most people, heck my 2012 MBP 3rd gen dualcore i7 is about equal to 8th gen dualcore i5 so there's no need to push performance that much forward if OS is not bloating things up (Windows 10 again..)

Dude...i wanted to get the macbook pro too a few months ago. However, you have to factor in the fan noise. That can be extremely distracting if you're doing recording or using heavy synths...So that led to the mac pro. Issue is the mac's pro baseline is a joke and with the necessary upgrades it quickly gets outrageous pricewise. The imac/imac pro is nice, but will have you stuck with everything within the screen and that puts limitations on your studio as it grows. Therefore, I decided a hackintosh for the first time was the way to go.

For literally LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE of a comparable mac pro ($5K less) and $400 more than a macbook pro, i'm putting together an 18 core, 64gb ram, Radeon VII, with 3tb nvme storage, dual thunderbolt and dual 10g ethernet hackintosh, which probably beats the mac pro I would have bought. I'm an apple fanboy, but don't let them sucker you into paying huge premiums.

With all this said, if you desperately need to be mobile, and know you ACTUALLY create music on the go, then go with the macbook pro. But a hackintosh's value in 2020 cannot be understated.

No my friend I’m sorry it did help, and I actually agree to a certain extent, but Apple made it clear that everything now won’t be expansive, so that’s the only reason why sometimes I think about getting the maxed out version I don’t have to update my MacBook for at least 7 years ahead. But knowing that you can do all that on your MacBook, makes me crazy excited to get mine this week

btw Apple will most likely announce ARM-based Macs and new MacOS 10.16 this WWDC (June 22, 2020), hard to tell if it'll be any good, but will stir waters I guess..

yeh if it works, and until it dies. I brought mine 3 times to the apple store to get it repaired until I got a new. I have a iPad Air 2 it worked perfect when i bought it. Now its self destruction timer seams to be triggered, it battery show 50% change and then suddenly it turns off showing 0%. When I restart it with the cable attached it shows 5o% again. Apple told me that teh Battery is broken and it need to be replced for over 100 Euro. I still doubt that it is a battery issue .

What are all these stupid comments. The man wanted advice on what Mac to buy, not OMG MAC SUX, WINDOWS FTW! You dont like Apple? Cool, dont buy it, and dont comment on these sorta questions.

There is nothing wrong with the new MBP. The 16" is a wonderful machine, the base model is more than powerful enough for music production. You dont need an i9 at all, nor 64GB RAM, but even then, the cooling has been refined so there are no throttling issues in real world use. Yes, the cooling isn't great, but you wont be gaming on it or benchmarking it, you'll be making music.

Its still tons better than some crappy Lenovo hackintosh. I've been taking my 2018 MBP 15" everywhere, at home, work, the studio, never once has it "overheated", never once have I had an issue. Its fast, reliable and well built. Yes, everything being soldered is a downside, but its a price im willing to pay.

The new Mac Pro is overpriced and not a good buy but that is partly Intels fault as well as Apple. So if you want a desktop, a hackintosh makes sense. But a hackintosh laptop? Good jk.
