Reality chooses? What is your version of reality Nought? Considering we all have a narrow view of such a large expanse that is limited by the means of which we can perceive, what is your perception of reality concerning the nature thereof? I understand that your implying a form of "natural selection", but Music is more about a human beings "emotional selection", and less about a "natural selection". Therefor it is "we" as a human collective that chooses which version of "musical reality" we select. Not the other way around.

 

If there is any truth to this, specifically "rejecting it", then I'd say that this is because what you have stated as fact is not part of certain people's version of reality.

What facts?
Listen, if you were to transplant your gripe to be focused on the The 'Music' Industry, which often chooses sales over quality of the product, then I'd say that these thoughts of yours may have some merit.
Otherwise, totally hypothetical ramblings that will only wind people up. Although I'm sure that this is already known to you...

Which reality are you living into?
On earth's reality, popular music, including the less genuinely creative succeeded and exist since the beginning of music. Why? Because it explains what people feel at the moment and it's what matter for people.
And again, it does not have less or more value than what you call genuine creation. Music is a whole where every expression can cohabit.
Not to speak about how many so called creative music where initially triggered by this uneducated popular music.
Reality shows it to you from Jazz to classical music, if you're able to let your "I know the truth, reality is mine" elitist position or is it that aside of your predominant point of view, you simply don't know enough about music history?
