I just bought a new macbook pro which came with MacOS Catalina. I installed Live 10 Suite 10.1.4 (with internet turned off). I got my hardware code. I tried to run the mac version of Ableton 10 KeyGen v.1.3.0, but nothing happened. I installed Wine (CrossOver 19) and ran the exe version and it generated a .auz file. However, when dragging it into ableton, the program tells me "the authorization file is invalid on this computer"
I'm not sure what to do now.

 

you need a patched Ableton version, did you download R2R or HCiSO?

 

I doubt there is a working release for Catalina yet .. I'm not 100% sure.

I am currently trying the Ableton 10.1.9 version of R2R on Catalina. The authorization is working, but when I restart Ableton Live, I have to authorize again. So it seems to forget the authorization every time. I have disabled auto updates and I think I am doing everything else right (Run Keygen on Win, enter hardware code, drag & drop the authorization-file to Ableton Live). Did anyone install it successfully on Catalina yet?

Update: 10.1.9 by R2R seems to work on Catalina. At least I got it to work now. I did not uninstall old Ableton versions before (even though it was written in the guide, but I thought it might not be necessary). Furthermore, I would recommend to disable internet connectivity during installation and first startup. In my version "automatic updates" were already disabled .

Were you able to drop the generated license file onto Live? I’m trying to install live 10.1.7 offline but to complete the authorization it’s saying I have to use a computer with internet to go to ableton.com to finish the authorization and dropping the generated file doesn’t do anything. I didn’t have this problem when installing 10.1.2 so not sure what’s happening.

EDIT: Nevermind, I’m an idiot, I was trying to drop the wrong authorization file onto Live. All working now

You still on version 10.1.4?
That's 2 or 3 versions older.

 

I've had similar experience (new MacBook Pro with Catalina), Ableton Live Suite 10.1.4 (with wi-fi turned off) and hardware code taken down. When I tired to run the KeyGen through Wine, it says ''Wine cannot open this file - This is windows file and it's not supported on Mac'' ... ???
Does anyone has any solution for this or at least have a download link of Ableton KeyGen for Live Suite 10.1.4 for Catalina please?

 

Catalina is sh.t. I went back to Mojave 10.14.6. in my studio because of all the problems with the Catalina update. The whole Apple business is one big bad money machine. You can buy a Windows laptop for more than half the price of an Apple with far more better specifications.

 

Avoid Catalina at all costs while you can. I'll happily stay in Mojave as long as humanly possible.

 

Can you please explain the process of opening the KeyGen, I was trying the 10.1.4 version yesterday and 10.1.9 version today ... neither of them KeyGen's cannot be opened on my new Mac - OS Catalina as it says ''the windows file is not acceptable on this mac'' - tried with Winebottler / Wine and Wineskin, same old story ... I'm following the instructions from R2R and my internet is off during the whole process, still nothing ... Anyone has the same issue or some solution please?
