Basically real time pitch and time knobs..

I tried paulXstretch and I dont like it much...a bit convoluted and does too much. Looking for something simple and intuitive.

 

Load an audio loop in your DAW then automate the tempo.

 

That doesnt work for performance

 

... or load a sample into any granular synth (Granite, Quanta, Straylight, The Mangle, etc).

 

Serrato Pitch 'n Time can do that.

 

maybe vps tapestop. it's a plugin which means assigning midi cc for each plugin functionality is possible. it was intended for tapestop effects but the curve and rate can be experiments to your need. i think it can. i haven't tried. but it's a plugin and plugin can cc.. and together for live performance.. for that reason.. i think vps tapestop is one of the option you have out there..

With Serato Sample, assign the cue time stretch parameter to a midi cc from your controller. The cc assignment cannot be done from Serato Sample, but you have to do it from your DAW. I do it in Reaper and it works.
Back in time I did it with the STS 5000 sampler from Creamware Scope dsp system and also Emulator X3 can do it.

 

Just Ableton in session view. Create an audio track, drag your audio in it, warp it (active loop if you want a loop), and then when you change the tempo of the project, the audio will match it. I also work with midi track Of course, but it is an other kind of effect

 

I think there was a topic like this a while ago. The issue with time-stretch is that changes the duration (unlike pitch-shifting), so the plugin can't guarantee that the output goes "synced".
That's why usually it's better to handle this with the DAW.

Then, you can assign pitch/time control to knobs of your midi controller for a live use

 

I wish....i dont use PT, Logic or M-Powered, unfortunately. And I cant justify $399 even if I did use those platforms.

Serato Sample is based on Pitch n Time and does the same pitch and timestretch in a vst plugin.

Im just using it as a "knob twisting" effect..for lo-fi. Not sure if you're familiar with Turnado or the sp samplers. Syncing isn't really an issue in this regard

 

For live performance, use an iPhone with Loopy HD and a MIDI controller mapped to its tempo adjustment.
It will launch and time-stretch up to 12 loops in realtime.
