I got my rme ufxII couple of days ago and I've been wrestling with problems, even more so than with my old mackie 1640I with ancient drivers.. tho microphone pre amp, headphone amp and dac quality is superb!

If any fellow rme users would be any help I'd appreciate it ton! Just to know If it intended behaviour, incompatibility issue or if i have defective unit.

Well problem arises when it comes to changing sampling rate during audio playback, when audio is playing, interface starts to make loud buzzing static noise besides when ever there is audio playing on all the channels of my rme interface.

Changing sample rate usually during this point does not make that loud buzzing amp noise go away, for that I have to restart my unit. My interface is usually behaves normally when changing sample rate if there is not a single audio playing through and and I dont even have to re open program where audio is playing from.

My rme interface seems to be really picky about changin sampling rate and buffer size, changing buffer size in other hands cause massive slow mo bitcrusher effect on ongoing sound source if i dont restart the program.

Are these normal? Coming from mackie I NEVER had this kind of problem even through cheap and half baked firewire pcie adapter with really old molex cable, it just didnt play anything through like the ear piercing loud noises my rme makes.. which can really sound super loud..

    I appreciate any help :)

:woot: Why the hell would you do that?

Yep, my Babyface too. When I change the buffer size I've to log off and on again in Win. No biggie.

I'm more interested in which program and how he does it.
I think the answer to my question will be a hint to answer his question.

I also would like to know why you would want to change sample rate while audio is playing! Does this happen if you change it when there is no audio playing? If not, problem solved!

Also, my Babyface too is a bit picky when trying to change buffer size but it usually works the second time I do it!

    have you read manual?
    https://www.rme-audio.de/downloads/fface_ufx2_e.pdf

    open page 17:
    Sample Rate
Sets the currently used sample rate. Offers a central and comfortable way of configuring the sample rate of all WDM devices to the same value, as since Vista the audio software is no longer allowed to set the sample rate. However, an ASIO program can still set the sample rate by itself.

During record/playback the selection is greyed out, so no change is possible.

    oh.........

I just confirmed it. In Fireface it's greyed out, Reaper doesn't even show an entry for the settings anymore (while playing).

My mackie mixer just stayed quiet when changing sample rate and stuff,, no ear piercing sounds O.O, sometimes when my volume has been little bit louder it really scared me. I think it would good rme to implement a feature that wouldnt let signal pass while that thing is happening.

Im still trying to figure out, to record at 48khz or 96khz really tough choice so thats why Ive been changing sample rate:disco:

Is it worth to use cloudlifter with smb7 and my ufxII and lower gain 20db to 40db? Will it have any benefit with this caliber of mic amp?

96kHz produce half as much aliasing as 48kHz. But this isn't audible in all cases.
96kHz have half as much latency but need more CPU power.

I've been thinking of 192khz sampling rate just because of Im hi-res freak and have enough space but my ryzen 1800x might just not be up to the task, Im wondering how much better performance I could get with zen2 or 3 or with kaby lake x compared to this

    :deep_facepalm:
youtube converting every uploaded video file to their standart formats, audio tracks in these converted videos have sample rate 48 kHz.
if you change sample rate in audio device to 96 or 192 or 384 kHz this will NOT increase sample rate of the audio in the video...

So you want to switch to 96kHz for frequency limited, lossy compressed audio stream? Aha.

Bitcrusher effect sometimes happens sometimes randomly when I've restarted my computer, I feel like mackie drivers were more stable :/

I hope its just incompatibility issue, has there been any problems with RME and asmedia chipset?
ive been thinking of buying good pcie usb card without asmedia chipset

I feel like 96khz is good compromise between almost (useless 192khz) and 48khz

Im now testing to run some plugins at 96khz with buffer size of 64, wow that can be really easily interrupted by other process, I had to limit CPU affinity for youtube so that chrome wouldn't try to use same cores as reaper. still it crackles from time to time, when recording with one FX verb I guess its down to processor/memory latency or asmedia chipset, my mackie topped out at 128buffer size in windows already, rme seems to play windows audio's without crackling at this buffer size, but things may change if I load up the CPU's:bleh:.
