Do you have any other examples of company owners and developers that comment on their cracked software in AZ , One that comes to mind newsonicarts when R2R cracked nuance , trying to contact r2r to help him in future releases

I remember some small-medium companies developers rightfully complaining here or AZ.
Didn't remember that Nuance one, it was a good one. Nice guy.

 

There are a few, but I remember Adam Szabo getting really upset everytime you even mention Viper, even though it's never been cracked.

 

a lot of the devs lurk here. Not to name any names. But the German ones. Who rhyme with TwitBig...

 

Not sure about this forum, but I guess almost every dev does check the sister site when his plugin gets cracked or he goes broke.

 

some devs seem quite happy to post here - that audiomodern guy...? NO WAIT Analog obsession guy. Donationware. And D-Music posts with the news about "God plugin" - that's Denise audio denise.io

 

I'm pretty sure Urs is lurking in here. He's been in close contact with the teams as well. Playing Cat & Mouse games with the timebombs

That does not sound really upset to me. That sounds extremely reasonable.

But Adams post is sympathetic and comprehensible. So I would put it this way, that all reasonable and fair members can understand him

 

As a developer, I am in high hopes that (yes), everyone, understands why a developer would be upset at the thought of their product being cracked and available for free. I assume "everyone" who went through that WOULD be upset, yes, and hopefully "everyone" would understand WHY they were upset, yes ...But alas, I overlook that there are those that probably wouldn't understand. So maybe NOT everyone would understand. So I'll take that back, and say some Understand.

 

Everyone here to Adam: we get it, it's understandable! We're all in this together!

The Touch the Universe sound designer was posting in his release threads before they got taken down. He was definitely very upset and I felt sorry for him.
Digital Felicity also posted in his Serum preset release threads, but he was a lot more chill about it.

I personally love it when devs post here and on the sister site. The way they conduct themselves here definitely influences me in my purchase decisions.

Also nice to see Adam Szabo here. Love your work dude. But until your stuff is cracked I'm not buying any of it :p But good luck to you, looking forward to your future projects.

OH and I adore the Urs vs R2R saga.
If anything, the change of heart that Tone2 had after his protection got defeated by R2R shows that the interaction with release groups can have a real impact on things. I just hope Urs isn't gonna fuck his legit customers over by introducing more annoying protections in the future.

OH and I forgot, apparently Mr. Schleis has some spies here too :p He's probably the only dev out there who I can't wait to see his stuff cracked here (sorry to be so negative about it)

 

As someone who's had their music pirated I can sympathize. The only consolation is that I've come to realize that in music a pirate download rarely equals any actual lost revenue- the people that want to buy, buy and the ones who steal would never have paid for it anyway. I'm sure there's some impact but it's not as bad as I would have thought early on. The guy I work with doesn't see it that way though; he's convinced that every pirate download costs him from being able to buy a burger at McDonald's or a tank of gas and he goes after all the torrent sites. I have a more "it is what it is" attitude.
But of course, music and software are different. Software represents a whole different magnitude of revenue per download.

 

Please don't crack Adam's Viper, it's not even available on Mac
