Well, you still have to get your samples from finder and preview them with apple preview like in 300 B.C. so all the overdue sampler improvements aren't worth shit unfortunately...

 

I just recently upped the OS on my 2012 mini to High Sierra just to get the last Logic update ffs.

 

Update didn't come automatically, but it showed up. Looks like they are really after the Ableton, MPC/Maschine and Kontakt user base.

That and the new FL Studio version should keep me busy.

For people who own a legit version of Logic Pro X and don't see the update in their App Store: be patient,
mine took awhile too to appear.

Furthermore: very neat update if you ask me, especially for those who are in electronic music production.
And for all the negative comments: you can't have it all, every DAW will keep having it's (personal suited) flaws.

It was available pretty fast. Started my Mac and an update notification came in.

 

Eh Ive been a Logic owner since 4.5 Platinum.. No matter what Apple does, Logic's sequencer won't replace my MPC at all heh. Logic is just my tape deck nowadays, its way quicker and less distracting to write in the MPC and just track it in Logic and mix afterwards. Cant wait to see what they finally did to the EXS though.. Been waiting like 15 years or so for some sort of update to anything in that plugin! Wonder if they finally redid those ugly ass Emagic GUIS that were left on Ultrabeat and the ES's too.

 

Viewing multiple lanes isn't my problem. The prob is having separate lanes for each articulation which eats up unnecessary DSP. Things can add up when working with big orch templates. I have a work around for this, but it requires using a script in Kontakt. But after using Cubase now for almost a month now I'm starting to prefer its workflow.... Hoping someday soon Apple will improve their ART workflow.

 

PDC bug still not fixed. That's incredible.

 

Will 3rd Party plugins still work with 10.5?

 

Huh? You can preview any and all of your samples in Logic's browser on the right side, next to the Apple Loops browser, then drag your sample to Quick Sampler, or Sampler.

 

Logic Pro X 10.5 only works on Mojave 10.14.6 or above

 

This workflow update can help Ableton Live and FL Studio users in switching, for some reason.

 

The NEED to update the Score capabilities of Logic. Protools has Sibelius, Steinberg has Dorico... This update rules to me because of the EQ improvements mainly. But nevertheless, Logic could be a way superior DAW, my two cents...

 

Not on playback you can't audition, Logic must be stopped. That's a real creativity killer.

I switched from Cubase to Logic after they've improved the UI and workflow a few years ago. I actually prefer the MIDI editing in Logic but I'm only using few articulations/controllers aside from pitch bend, mod wheel, velocity...

Why are people so down on Catalina? I'm having no issues whatsoever. Is this the same brigade that use win 7 instead of 10 ?
Afer years as an acredited Logic trainer and Protools user. I purchased a Studio One 4 and Bitwig. I recently reviseted Logic X after watching a video with Finneas O'Connell talking about his production precess (A power logic user) and was quite impressed. At the end of the day Software doesnt write songs, people do.

 

I personally avoid Catalina mostly due to 1. Software compatibility issues and 2. Trying to hold on to Mojave as long as I can in my old trusty Mid 2012 MBP, the last model that you could upgrade on your own.

 

I've managed to make a career in music working with accomplished musicians and those people and myself are Mac users. Your descriptive use of the word *tards is quite juvenile.
