Aviici was multi millionaire, for me it's not much easier to forgive his using of cracked software because he was a genius.Martin Garrix is also a genius in my opinion in his own genre,he is also good at finding melodies. You like or you hate his genre but this guy is talented.

    Not the best DJ though!

Besides the already mentioned names like Martin Garrix, Timecop1983, Avicii, Kanye West I would like to add Steve Aoki (Sylenth1) and if I'm correct there was also a tutorial on Tutsplus or Musicradar pulled down because of the use of a cracked Ohmicide. Same for Savant by the way. Don't know the guy but seems a well known artist.

Now, I really don't understand this. One, if you know that someone is taping your actions, why the hell would you still use your cracked software?! Second, all these guys should've made enough money at the time to have all their tools legal. For me, the warez community is especially for peeps that can't afford a lot of the expensive stuff that's available, want to take benefits of a longer full working test period and don't make any money with it (yet). When you do, you should consider supporting the developers obviously. I guess we can all agree on this.

So it's just lame that artists - who are an example for others - are so irresponsible. On the other hand, this is just one example, don't let us started about professional behaviour :woot:

I don't want to get off topic here replying to your shit but for the benefit of everyone else who has been following this thread I.
The numbers were not exaggerated. Those are facts, no mere allegations. Eleven recording studios were sued between $71,000 and $300,800. The total was almost 2 million. Some of the studios settled for amounts ranging from $5,000 to $20,000.
Next time you come trying to ridicule someone, especially me, do your homework first, and then try to discredit what the person said with facts. If you don't have personal knowledge of an issue in controversy, GIYF.

Have you heard of BanPiracy? Google it.
Have you heard of Jeffrey Maidenbaum of Maidenbaum & Associates? Google it.
Have you heard of Allied National? Google it

BanPiracy is a company formed by the shareholders of Waves Audio for the purpose of fighting piracyt in the audio software industry.
Jeffrey Maidenbaum of Maidenbaum & Associates is the law firm that represented it Waves and Allied National in the lawsuits.
Allied National is a collection company which contacted the studios, and attempt to collect fees on behalf of Waves prior to the lawsuits.

I remember that there were some rumors about the settlements being something like this:

Waves Lawyers: " You don't get the fine. Just buy the Waves pack (which costed back then about 11000 $, if I'm not mistaken) and direct us to another studio where they surely use cracked Waves too". It was all about ratting somebody else. At least, those were the rumors.

They were using all type of tactics. They were being accused of extortion. This is an example, they are asking this studio owner for $19,000, which in today's money is over $23,000.

In those cases that went to court they were going as far as getting an injunction to prevent the studios from ever using Waves again. Another thing BanPiracy does is invite those studio owners that use illegal software to "come clean" under its GoLegit initiative. According to them they guarantee no legal problems. They even put the fear in people's mind that "it is very easy to track illegal software." Shiiiiiiiit, I am going legit.:hahaha:

To be fair, everyone was using Waves in the past and most of them were using cracked versions. They were highly frustrated and tried to increase their income by using these methods. I don't think they are still aggressive today. With all the better, lighter, often cheaper alternatives that we have now, they are lucky if big studios are promoting their stuff. Or maybe I'm wrong. :guru:

Triple mortgages and over-extended credit cards are fun.

Wonder how much that joint cost to build out.

Lots and lots of $$$. In that particular place there 2 major things to connsider. The location, and the designer.
The studio is in NYC which is the most expensive place to build in the world. It comes to $362 per square foot. The labor cost is crazy. New York had the second-highest average hourly-rate with $98.30 “site foreman” with an average hourly rate of $145.
The designer is John Storyk. In my opinion, he is the best there is but utter expensive. Just the acoustical design from his firm will cost you on average $75K. This does not include the installation or materials. With Storyk's firm, WSDG, you can't cut corners. It is their way or he would not take on the job. They even design the furniture that you will use. But there is more. The monitoring system was designed by Dave Malekpour of Professional Audio Design. The Augspurgers GA215V dual 15" cost $20k but these were modified with 4” Beryllium Diaphragms which cost at least $10,000 per pair. Add $10K more for the Augspurgers subwoofers, and another $10k for the amps. In sum, it is not rare for just one room like that to cost over $500K, plus the price of the equipment. And we are not even talking about the price of the building.

Again... your links provide none of the figures you bandy about as gospel. In addition to that, those lawsuits date back to 2006-2009... old and useless news that literally amounted to nothing.

You just get off trying to scare people but that's just your insecure nature...

As far as I know all mainstream dj's are not good though. It's just all very simple, safe and with no creativity. The best ones are mostly all underground and are not really getting the attention that they deserve.

I think that all of the artists mentioned are after clicks, and all have legit licenses. At least that's what I hear, and the reason why the links are still up. OMG have you heard Kanye uses warez check this link! Think how many more clicks from (non-fans) they got after this topic!
