A: By automating every single parameter and I'm afraid even Reaer can't do this.
B: No at all because that would be like being able to morph any sound into any other and if this would be possible I think we would've heard this effect as often as the 'Cher-Antares-Effect'.

if you use ableton you can set up a synth with each respective preset, assign to A and B on the crossfader, other than that some synths allow preset morphing, most others do not

I think that's it. Two instances workaround or a synth with preset-morphing feature inside the box.

It's not always possible, as there are plenty of parameters on synths that aren't variable values, like switches. There's only off, or on, not 37% off. Or something like a Minimoog, where you have discrete waveshapes, you can only switch between them.

It works best on synths that have that feature built-in, but even then, it's only sometimes effective, and really depends on the two sounds you're morphing between. Sunrize and MiniMonsta are two that spring to mind that do morphing well...

it depends on your definition of "morph". to "morph" from one synth to another, crossfading is about the best you can do. but as some people have already pointed out, some synths have a feature that allows you to morph between presets within the same synth.

I do this in ALL VSTis/VSTs inside Jeskola Buzz, which is free.
I can also breed and randomize new presets out of two "parent presets".

Jeskola Buzz is quite old and quite an obscure (but amazing) modular tracker. You load VST plugins in a wrapper/container called Polac VST Loader inside Buzz. You need to download Polac VST loader and read about its features and functions here:

You can also take an alternative direction: have both of your presets played into audio, then use Zynaptique Morph or something else similar to realtime morph the audio. It's FFT based morphing, not crossfading. This way sounds very different from morphing the actual presets. Has an unnatural, unnerving sound usually, but maybe that's exactly what the chef wants.

You would be better having 2 separate tracks and using volume automaton

Then you can sample the sound .. but it would change the sound in not the same way as a synth would

  16. I've never found the results of two morphed sounds to be as exciting as I'd imagine they would be.

Depends on how you use it.
Morphing between two presets (or just modulating a large amount of parameters by modwheel, expression, aftertouch or velocity) can be a very effective means of adding expression to your playing.

But it sure leads to many new interesting presets and can create some interesting results sonically that you would never get otherwise.

From this list, I own a couple of them. In Beepstreet Sunrizer, you can set two states within the same preset. Then, you can morph between them by moving the Modwheel or drawing a curve in the Modwheel controller lane in the MIDI editor of your DAW. In Hybrid 3 you actually morph between different presets you select from among your library. There's also Sugarbytes Factory (a semi-modular synth). In a similar way to Beepstreet Sunrizer, you can save different states of the same preset in positions A and B. Then, you automate the slider and get a morph. In Factory, the really cool thing is that the modulation matrix values are also subject to the morphing. For instance, in your matrix you may set, let's say, your Envelope 2 to have a little positive effect on your filter cutoff point, and save that setting in position A. Then you can move your slider to position B and set different values for Envelope 2, and route it in the matrix in a different way (let's say, negative value, or even switch to modulate a different parameter in your synth). You should give Sugarbytes Factory a try.
