That is what I am talking about and tinkering with. It is doable BUT it will take a lot coding, unless there is an open source that gets me a head start. Im going to take a look at that app @Buga mentioned. By the name I suspect it is only a FL Studio app yet it is better than nothing.

FL 20, yes. On my laptop works well (less plugins installed) ... and on my desktop leaves some files "hanging", like there are some plugins with no IDs or uninstalled? Not sure why but my desktop computer is filled with so many "garbage" (time for a clean win install, fresh start...lol) so i'm not sure - maybe it's my PC playing tricks.

This is not "the ultimate perfect solution" but it cleans the mess a little bit. YMMV.

By doing manually, do you mean via Plugin manager and then click on the vst, go to plugin tab and under category type in whatever category you like to have it sorted in? that's how i did back then.
How i do it now:
Go to FL browser on the left, click on the plug icon - go to plugin database. right click on any category Folder (not plugin) -> Windows shell menu -> open - The folder will be opened. Go back to Effects or Generators, depending on what you like to sort. Copy that path. Open another Folder and Paste the path, so you have the same folder twice (C:\users\"username"\documents\image-line\Fl studio\presets\plugin database\effects) From there, just make new folders with your categories.
Move the .fst files to your desired folder.
Now you should see the folders you just created within your FX slots in the mixer. (if you select Tree or Categories)

 

Ye, had a similar list before and the folder on my disk with only the plugins (dll's) installed took more than 15GB of space.
So I decided to sort out what I really need and what not and there were alot of plugins I even never touched once.
Now the folder is reduced by half and my list looks reasonable and I even started buying the plugins I use alot
which also made me studying them alot more than I did before.

That is the main problem nowadays. So many plugins that some times we don't even know what they are for. That is the MAIN reason for my categorizing as I do. At least I know their usage. With that said, I admit that it doesn't matter hoe many plugins you have if you don't know how to use them. It is like having an airplane and a helicopter and not knowing how to fly.

List plugins sorted by Vendor's name in Fl Studio, organize them in folderd on disc.

 

Tried launching the program but I can't it says, there is three files missing, ucrtbased.dll, vcruntime140d.dll, msvcp140d.dll.

even tried disabling the anti-virus, no luck.

each subfolder only have a few selected tools that i keept going back to, and a few extras for "that oddday you want something else than the ussual"

i will still confess to have way to many plugins installed, but my "short lists/categories" helps makes staying in the moment when inspiration is kicking,in, alot less fuzzy or distracting when choosing your next tool.

If i notice that i keep going back to a VST thats not living in the filestructure, i will again manualy copy/clone it to the correct place. Also i do set aside studio sessions, where i focus in taking new tools and toys out for some qualitytime to explore and experiment with them on various material in different scenaries.

Also worth mentioning, if you work in Abelton, the "Collection" in the filebrowser is Golden! it can really speed up your workflow, keyword Flow

For inspiration, mine is super simple:

Favorites
(my fav samples, very few, but sounds for "that typical moment where you need it" type sound
Tools
You guessed it, tools like comp,eq, delay, reverb, saturators, distortion, phacers, etc)
Instruments
My go to VST instruments
GoGoGo
My selection of "get that idea down now" tools. But even fewer selection. only 2 compressors, 3 reverbs, 2 delays, 4 distorion/saturation, 2 phacer,2 transient enchancer.

if you notice the pattern here: keeping things simple. "limiting" your choises.
Limiting but to free you to do, what you do. and not spend more time than necessary picking "the best" tool for the job, by looking thru all your collections of eq'es and compressors and having to remember every minor detail about that specific tool etc etc.

we have to strike and act when inspiration is there, and get that music out of us.
we dont want to bugdown right when you are in the middle of "that idea" on the technical aspect and minor details (in the grand scheme of things), since we can always go back and do that. the (sometimes)endless "fixing/correcting/fiddeling" or whatever you call it stage of a piece of music, before we calle it "finnished"

downloaded every possible one, no luck same problem.

 

100% correct Studio One does all of this for you.The real plus side of is that you can make your own folders and simply drag n drop any plug into it for easy sorting.Fuck all that manual shit. Waste of time.
