Ugh, decisions decisions... blah blah blah 1 to 1 porting. A fraction of the cost of the $10k unit... Approved my Dan Weiss himself.

Gyro might appreciate my joke... I feel like I'm caught in a WEISS GRIP.

Sprecken zie Deutsch? Ich bin Bitwigger.

    Peeps, your thoughts?

Especially with the new Mastering EQ...

    worth the hype?

    Full package?

Will softube end up doing like 50% for the whole Weiss collection come say Black Friday? Assuming we survive till then?

    thanks.... :)

I'm hoping @The Pirate shows his hot ass here on my thread! It's Friday after all and it would really make my day. My week, in fact.

Honestly not worthy IMHO. I tried it (the all Weiss plugin serie in fact), and one thing seems true : it's very close to what I remember from the hardware (for the compressor at least, I never used the Weiss hardware eq).
But it's kind of a weird move : Weiss hardware were revolutionnary in their time because they offered things that didn't exist until then : ultra clean transparent sound, a lot of processing options, unusual attack and release options, band-selecting compression, etc... It was indeed a plugin hosted by a hardware rack. All that when personnal computers were running windows98!
To resume, Weiss hardware was putting into engineers hands the same qualities any good plugins willl have when processing capabilies of computer would be sufficient!

So is it relevant today? I'm not sure, and given the price tag I think it's really not worth the investment if you already have fabfilter or DMG plugins.

PS: for some time now, a lot of mastering enginners I know are using DMG equilibrium as replacment for their Weiss hardware EQ

amazing feedback - thanks - yeah, i have to admit - the software playing field has changed a bit - you make some very amazing key points - like exactly - shouldn't fabfilter kinda be pretty much there? thanks for the info on DMG - i mean I know Dave's reputation in industry but wasn't sure about how good the plugs are... thanks!

I just tried the compressor, the DS-1 MK3. I give you my opinion, the opinion of a producer who masters his music, not a mastering engineer. This is not an emulation, it is the exact code since the original hardware is digital. In other words, it sounds identical. This dates from the late 90's. Well, that someone could have this algorithm in their hands more than 20 years ago seems incredible powerfull to me, since that algorithm continues to compete and endure the type with the most recent ones. What I mean is this: Today in 2020 this compressor is still Top nocht, but in a world where there are many others of the same quality or superior, it is very difficult to say that this is the best. Of course if you go to gearslutz they almost force you to buy it haha.
In the end of the day, these things have nothing to do with money. I do not change it, to give a clear example of money, by TDR Kotelnikov.

That crack was bad. Those Romanian crackers fucked up the code. You need to try the r2r internal. Check your PM.

Ok, it was long time ago when I was uncool too, it was the only way to get your Cubase Pro 10 internal release.
