I'm trying to secure some files on a usb drive and want it to be read-only. Is there a software to help me with this?

Not sure i understand why you need read-only files on a USB drive? - Afraid of them getting infected by a virus or malware when used on another device? If so, it's just a matter of setting the file attributes of the files to read-only.

"Read-only" doesn't prevent copying from one device to another, it only prevents files from being re-written/saved, renamed and in some cases deleted i think. It won't prevent people from copying those files to their own device and change the file attributes and do whatever they want with it.

If you're afraid to lose you pendrive and have strangers lay their hands on your files, just password encrypt them. A simple archive (zip,rar,..) with a good password should do the trick.

If you're handing that pendrive over to a trusted person but you don't want that person to keep a copy of the files when he returns the pendrive, it's a simple; "not possible". Way back then, software co's tried to prevent users from copying their soft/games from CD/DVD to their computers, but that quickly got bypassed and became obsolete. Adobe tried, and keeps on trying, to lock pdf's to printing-only, once again, it got bypassed. Ebooks and their DRM protections got bypassed, etc...
