Old news! It is what it is. :dunno: Lennar Digital is happy that its synth was used in a hit song. Good for advertising.

Many pro's use cracked versions of the stuff they allready own a license to - because many times those are better integrated in the DAW or bugfixed (by the teams!), no stupid dongles, no tedious registration process to activate, installed on more locations, no interference with other licenses, no nagging update notifications - just workflow.

True, but owning a license and using a "cracked" one instead of the legit one, does not make it legal. It is still illegal.

Look at the fentanyl-hooker look on Martin Garrixx:rofl:
what a fake asshole with cheesy pop trance music

Imagine that "shh" sounding dutch accent and his entitled little pudgy face yapping on about some rotten supersaw teen arpeggio he saw tiesto doing, but id barely be proud of my dog for coming up with it! *puke

& Imagine how dumb those magazine editors felt sitting filming this child's entitled, lisp having, asshole wannabe fkn souless "artistical" rhetoric:dunno: (his "i like shupersaw and shitty melodiesh, the build comesh and i raise my armsh in the air like a mentally retarded ape and just lower them in a halfasshed way when my VSTi bassh kicksh in!!")

I hope Mr. Lennar takes a personal trip to go and kick little GArrixxx in his useless music scene polluting brain
And then a swift kick in the sack so likkle Garrixx doesnt spread his genetics around!

Timecop1983 got busted same thing I believe sylenth - for sonicacademy tut on synthwave. it was brought up in the comments. tutorial was removed. then replaced. it was subscribers in the academy who caught it - not even sonic caught it - now they let all tutors do recreation on company laptop if it's a big name just to avoid future embarrassments

:dunno: I never said you did, so what is the big deal about it. I just added that as to what happens IRL, if you get caught up using a "cracked" copy of a sprogram you paid for.

I don't use Sylenth so I've not read its legals, but fundamentally, a license at its core is the right to use software legally, regardless if it's cracked or not. Most licenses also state that U cannot modify the software, "U" being the license holder. As Garrix didn't modify the software himself, the issue is not with him. If he owns the license, he can use the software legally.

True. The OP's example is a very sloppy one, but do reflect the artists IQ a bit I might add. I still don't know what anyone finds so great about the so called dj'ing of mr. Garrix. He is a poser of the worst kind.
Avicii was also a sloppy one with displaying hacked software in interviews, but at least he was a true genius, not more legal, but much easier to forgive.

If you did not pay for it, you have no legal right to use , much less to profit from it. In this case, the one he is using is not the one that he paid for...if he indeed did that. It does not matter if you paid, what matters is whether or not you are using one that is licensed to you. A cracked copy is not. In fact, even if you pay for it, it will be illegal under must licensing agreements to modify it.

Edit: Just to back up what I just said, here are some excerpts from Lennar Digital"s EULA

    2.4 Full Version
You may use the Software, after You have purchased/registered it, for any private, commercial or otherwise professional use that doesn't conflict with any other terms of this agreement. Each licensed copy of this Software may be used by only one person (Licensee) on two (2) machines/computers. If You install the Software onto a multi-user platform, server or network, each and every individual user of the Software must be licensed separately or included by a multi-site license.

    2.6 Software Altering
You may not copy, decompile, attempt to discover the source code or resources, reverse engineer, disassemble, modify, or create derivative works of the Software in whole or part, including translation to another language, computer language or format. You may not attempt to unlock or bypass any copy-protection or authentication algorithm utilized by this Product. You may further not remove, hide or change any textual or graphical information like labels, copyright or license notices.

Vro, it is not only artists. major recording studios, with millions of dollars invested in hardware, get caught all the time using unlincensed plugins. Wvaes went after a bunch of them in Europe, and the USA. THey were using investigators to book sessions. The studio unaware used Waves plugins for which they had no license. The fines were ridiculous. And the worst thing was that after paying 5-20 thousand dollars in fines they were not even awarded a license. :hahaha: Imagine, a freaking $20 plugin cost you $20,020 if you wanted to continue using it.

It's a bit mindboggling...why would they do paid sessions on warez?
If or when I'm making serious cash using audio software, first priority would to be to own the licenses. That's not even debatable.
Private and in my own realm, I don't even own the OS license :bleh:

And we are not talking about home recording studios here. This is one of the studios that paid the price; QUAD in NYC. Fucking ridiculous.

Where do you get this information? I want to see where you got these numbers...

Your assessment of the process seems over-the-top absurd and exaggerated and where the hell do you get off using "a plugin for $20" as something a "major" studio would use?

... and "Vro"? As in Vrother!!!!!!
