Free tip - your target market is happy to pay you for quality products. You are punishing legit users over your piracy paranoia. The irony is - those people you are worried about pirating your products aren't your target market to begin with. We won't recommend your products either, which is a whole slew of word-of-mouth marketing you are missing. (btw, I am a software developer)

 

So I changed the WIFI card on my laptop. Now iLok identifies my computer as a new machine and all activations are locked to the "old" hardware. This is some of the shittiest programming I have ever seen.

The only thing I like about ilok is how it pisses so many people off. Its an effective strategy for shifting retail blame similar to how ticket reseller sites function.

Funny thing though, the software has been pirated from day one. Getting tossed around on public torrents for a decade. Doesn't matter at all, they aren't my target market. I wish other developers would get this already instead of putting out all of this intrusive anti piracy bullshit in their software.

 

Currently on my computer iLok is unable to the connect to the server. The entire iLok website (including zero downtime) is down.

What a piece of shit company and product. This is the reason cracks are needed. Shame there is no proper group with real skills in the audio side. A good game group would probably crack iLok and the plugins in a few days.

I had a hardkey once, lost it. Never got another one, I never feel that compelled to pay £40 for one. A lot of places use softkey now anyway.

 

First time i agree with @lancexx . Hmmm... i must be getting soft or something.
I have it (iLok) and i just don't like it. This and every other copy protection. I want my comps free of monitoring soft as much as possible and i find the extra code installed unwanted bloat.
