I suggest starting with some background layers and Drones, mostly Kontakt based,
something like Gothic Instruments Dronar series is pure gold, or for ex. Heavyocity Gravity,

synths and other stuff is often matter of arpeggiators, there are tons of them, for ex. KV331 Synthmaster does good,
also for quicker scoring in more "industrial" action, I recommend UJAM IRON and UJAM Carbon virtual guitarists
