It's the same but with a correction that makes it work for (almost) everybody.

I think that is a problem where many of us would love to see a solution. I'm also on MacOSX and have been digging into Kontakt files, preferences, xml and even SQL database tools for a solution. Nothing yet.

Perhaps other interested in solving this problem could collaborate and share knowledge in another thread?

But I don't have a clue how it works in Mac OS. What's the Mac OS equivalent of Windows registry? No clue.

 

On mac it's a com.native-instruments.[library's name].plist file in two locations:
Library/Preferences
and
the user-specific Library/Preferences
These .plist files are not the same.
The one that usually* has the definition of the order is in the user-specific Library/Preferences.

The content of the files looks like this* (but it can't be saved as simple text):

*unfortunately it's confusing that there are .plist for other libraries with different kind of content. In some there is also the CurInstDir which would be the location of the instrument, that normally was only in the other .plist file and with different nametag (ContentDir). Perhaps the method was changed in newer Kontakt versions (and therefore some old libraries are not adding completely in new versions – not related to the SNPID thing).

 

That is coherent with the Windows case. On Windows, the libraries are stored in two parts of the registry:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Native Instruments\Shreddage 3 Legacy-> equivalent to Library/Preferences

2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Native Instruments\Shreddage 3 Legacy -> equivalent to user-specific Library/Preferences
And in this last one, there's this order entry:
UserListIndex 2

inNKX is more for modifying them (like adding the background image). The tool I use to create the basic nicnt's is Tracer's. It's here:
