TBProAudio has released DSEQ, a dynamic processor working in the frequency domain. DSEQ is removing digital harshness on the fly thanks to self-adjusting frequency bands.

DSEQ can be used in all mix and master situations:
    • de-essing vocals
    • taming resonances in e.g. drum, guitar, vocal recordings
    • removing digital harshness
    • balancing the mix
    • de-masking frequency regions
    • support of pink noise mixing/mastering

Finally a serious competitor to soothe :beg:
The video shows it well, they really took over all the main functions of Soothe ....
    And 3 times cheaper.
EDIT : (Sorry, 2 and a half times cheaper)

I already have Soothe, so I'm not going to compare them, I don't need 2 similar plugins.
However, I'm curious to have your opinions if any of you compare them :shalom:
@mild pump milk Thanks for the info  I think it will interest a lot of people

Even before the "sale", with all the hype around soothe (not saying without basis, but still a bit hyped..), I was 99% sure it was just a matter of time there would be other resonance/harshness tamers. In fact, I predict many more to come - the advertising part was already done at the expense of oeksound..

Light sarcasm apart..;), I was almost sorry I didn't get the thing the very next day. First, I am superbad at mixing, but I don't even care that much (although always learning from our precious specialists :) ). My philosophy - let the pros do their job.

I'm lacking a good solo violin in my orchestral library and I was "trying before buying" the Joshua vs others (SF, OT..). I already had the midi from notation, and with small corrections it played very OK. But the harshness is unbearable (some were complaining on sister about the latest ver. being terrible). I had to put a -4dB high shelf on. Too bad, because of superb playability.

My question for those who tried soothe would be: is it capable of such drastic corrections without (completely) altering the sound? Does it make sense, if the source is so ear-piercing, to even do something like that. A 200$ violin that needs a 200$ plug to sound "right"..

    Thanks for any insight.

Is DSEQ pretty much the same as Soothe, mostly exactly like, or something else entirely?

Very interesting. What kind of licensing model do they use, it appears to be license key that can be used on offline machine, no dongle or challenge/response or internet authorization, right?

Thank you. What does this mean? Can this be installed on an offline machine with the license information, or does it require an internet connection at any point in time?

MSpectralDynamics can't come close to the precise and transparent taming of resonances in Soothe. I wish it did but it doesn't.

Apart from some additional functions recently added in version 2 of Soothe, the features are almost the same.
With Soothe, you can choose the quality of the resolution and of the oversampling when you work in real time (in X1 eco), and change it to offline for rendering during bounces (in X4 ultra) automatically.
But what can really make a difference is the detection algorithm, this is the main element of the plugin.
I think I will try the demo version, just out of curiosity.

Do you remember tape plugins era (slightly fading out)? Varimu tube compressors/eqs era (still happens)? I think it is time for soothe-style spectral dynamicalizers)...

chinese knockoff equivalent of a plugin company???? what a poor and ignorant assessment. The morph engine is copied? from where? Zynaptic came after and with poor performance in comparison. The unison engine is copied? Can you provide a better unison plugin? The spectral delay algorithm is copied? The beautiful spectral dynamics, which is something different than soothe or gulfoss, always fixing problematic material like a boss. The fecking amazing and unendless modulation on every plugin is a knockoff of what? Can't believe such an innovative company is subject to such terrible reviews . GUI is ugly yes, pick a fancy silver knob gui to your liking, let the audio lovers use the nifty plugins instead.

Yeah, it is like comparing digital non-colouring eqs or 1176 emus or all tube stuff or sootheVSsmarteqVSgullfossVSmelda or hard clippers or etc...
Most are same, but different algorithms may subtly or stronger affect the sound. Same concept, but different output. It is like IIR vs FIR from Equilibrium. Or crave dsp eq vs fabfilter proq3 vs equilibrium vs magpha vs TDR SlickEQs vs MAAT vs PLParEQ vs vs vs vs.... Or hardclipping of KClip vs StandardClip vs V-Clip vs Cytomic TheGlue clipping section vs other clippers - same clipping process, but different results.
Soothe2 vs DSEQ maybe same in concept but one may have disadvantages and advantages vs second one and vice versa. Key algos of both are quality of detection and suppression and maybe some others (attack, release, curves, selectivity, Q of spectrum reduction, OS quality, more). DSEQ is a low-budget less-protected not-so-long-to-wait-for version of soothe2. But what if it is better?
Time will bring DSEQ2 and DSEQ3 like TBproAudio always does... There will be a lot of bugfixes, improvements, new features in a smaller version. But wait for v2 for a boom update. Era of "I want Soothe2" might come to the end))
