No lie, I purchased it when it was super cheap, and most of the time I forget I even have it. I use it from time to time for shits and giggles. Most of the time I can't really tell if its doing anything when using the automatic function. Maybe that's the beauty of it lol.

A hot lemon and honey cures harsh vocals too.

So.. if I was to create 2 tracks of the same song, you would be able to tell me straight away which one it was used on?

    @The Pirate @shankar
Thank you. Looks like while Sooth does a lot more to a mix, refinement can still be a valuable tool.
And yes it's fun to obsess over an unreleased plugin, it's like the Tristan Chord of plugins, never ending, never resolving, a deep night of yearning and desire, and only death in the end.

Probably not, but that wasn't the point anyway. The point was that it works for me and what I need it to do. Your post made it seem as if anybody who uses it must be without skill or someone who needs shortcuts to get thru life lol. "Back in my day we didn't use calculators," lol Yes, I could achieve the same results with stock plugins but it would take me longer to achieve the same task, plus I enjoy playing around with new tech and ideas. The thing about topics like this is, if the plugin was cracked we wouldn't be even talking about it. It seems now this is more of a debate between people who purchased it and like it, vs the people who can't buy it or decide they don't need it to for whatever reason. I replied to the poll as a Soothe lover, that is all.

You nailed it. And some of them have not even used it. The demo is free.

When the title of the thread is Soothe, love it or hate it, and then promptly opening with a poll, what else could it have been?

Just to clear things up though, I never said I hated it. How could I without trying it? It's just I have no desire to try it whether it it $200, cracked OR free! It is the concept of automation I don't like, not the product.

  13. If your music doesn't have any problematic frequencies then it will be useless. It's intended purpose is to fix those problematic resonances. You can hear it's effect on their website where they show examples and it is a subtle effect, but very useful when applied correctly.

Sometimes a bit of harshness in the problematic frequencies is a good thing. Especially if you feel the listener isn't paying attention.

Les Dawson use to be a lounge pianist and people kept talking all through his performances. Then he deliberately did THIS:

Next thing you know, he was famous because of it

  15. I've played like that plenty of times and never got famous. Now I'll be humming that tune all day. Oh well, better than Billie Eilish.

Let's just be honest here: the guys who want Soothe are desperately looking for something they can plop on one of their shitty-sounding tracks, hit a button or a preset and magically make everything sound better without them having to do any sort of work or possess any sort of expertise with audio. And the dude who just wrote "I had a harsh-sounding vocal track and Soothe made it sound better" sounds like he swiped that statement from a review in "Recording" magazine. You didn't have a "harsh-sounding vocal", bro. C'mon.

@Iggy Exactly. I understand the 'time-saving' factor that people mention, but is this also related to lack of time in gaining experience and knowledge of mixing?
We got this far without Soothe, eh?
All I see when a new plugin comes out that performs a number of tasks that we have always done individually over the last 20+ years since the daw boom, or even back as far as the analog days, is less control, and less young engineers knowing the original ways, and less understanding in regards that.
Just as how we became complacent/lazy, forgot to hunt and grow food, and rely on 'the man' to do it for us. Totally disempowering.
I voted that I am neutral until I try it, yet this has always been my take on things.

Exactly xD the reason why I don't really want to try or buy soothe, it's too easy and I don't think I gain experience if I use it, but I want to have at least a little experience one day... Kinda like izotope ozone mastering, don't want to use it because it does everything for u and u don't gain experience or knowledge.
