  1. My town in Australia was surrounded by fire last December. My partner, she packed family photos and important documents in the car in case we had to leave. I packed one thing. The Minimoog that I have owned since 1979.
Does that clear up any notions of me ever parting with it? :winker:

UK £|are really easy to convert to Aussie Dollars.

One Macdonalds meal equates to a Model D Moog. I have here a macdnalds meal if you're interested!

I really wish I'd seen what ya typed up there before posting this... Don't suppose you forget things under hypnosis, do ya?

    They are different tools.
BX_Refinement is useful for removing the harshness and Soothe for removing the resonances.
These are both very good useful and complementary tools.

The ones that said Soothe's only a hype are the ones who never tried it.

As a Soothe user, I love it, probably because I paid for it (99 during the promo on v1 + 50$ to upgrade) :)

But more seriously, without going to deep into technical stuff, as I'm not competent enough for that, I just notice that it sounds good. It's a great tool to tame any nasty frequency in a bad recording (you're not always responsable of your record nor have the possibility to have everything clean during the recording process).

You can of course do great music without, and of course you can turn all those nasty frequency with other EQ plugin, dynamic or not. But soothe do it automatically, you choose the frequency range, the thresold and intensity (and attack/release of v2) and it's done. You can also use it like Trackspacer from Wavefactory, by sending him some signal and use it to tame the frequency from that signal, but it's really transparant and clean, way more presice than Trackspacer or any Dynamic EQ I try before for that use.

For me it's a plugin that I use to go faster, and it also sound better than spending some time doing the same job for the (kind of) same effect. So it's worth the money I put in, cause I have more time for something else, and time is money (or pleasure, and searching for nasty frequency is not what I love the most in making music). I'm not mixing and mastering track for the "sake of the art" or whatever, I do it to make a living or for my personal project. I prefer spending time on finding the color I want for a mix/master than spending time on fixing some problem

And for other similar plugin, I try most of what I read here and there aren't any that can do what Soothe 2 does, in the same way with the same precision. The closest I can think about is Gulfoss (the tame function), but not really as precise as Soothe (I use Gulfoss also, but more as something to "add" instead of something to "correct")

i demoed soothe, it helped fix a horribly harsh vocal i had. but besides that, id never use it outside of a "pls help me lord, i have 5mins and no time to reflect" repair situation. theres better, more precise tools for the job, "fast" is a horrible approach to mixing and music in general and resonance is not something to avoid but roll with. essential to mixing. but that takes time and dedication to understand. if youre lazy and hence suck, but still want to be a "producer" while the trend is hot, buy soothe. if you think mixing is in your way, like its an obstacle, buy soothe. if you want that round, no risk no thrills sound...but commercially viable sound, buy soothe. know you a bitch tho...

When I think of Soothe and the people who are desperate to use it, I think of a little girl in a pink dress sticking a hot dog through a doughnut. But I don't hate it.

I live about two hours away from the Moog factory in Asheville, NC. Every time I've ever gone down there, I never manage to go on the factory tour (or Moogfest). But I intend to do both. Just seeing the outside of the factory up close is pretty amazing.

Have you used it? You can dial in very specific settings. So it isn't necessarily automated at all. Personally I enjoy the sound of it for modern mixes. Now if you prefer more old school ways of doing things, then thats fine. I do too when its time for that style, but in my bedroom I don't have endless racks of gear nor do I have time to spend an hour on one line of a vocal that sounds nasty trying to dial in the right frequency. I bought the original, and got the upgrade. Im very satisfied because it helped me fix a problem way quicker, and I don't feel bad about it at all.
