Hi, there are several programs, that do a good job. As: deCoda and Studio One (Chord Track).

 

Some online services could be helpful. I have found some rare Crystal Method’s songs on https://chordu.com/
Celemony Melodyne can decode as well

 

I'm not an expert but I've found several Zplane app/plugins similar to Melodyne.
While technically Zplane's stuff is very good, Melodyne's integration with Studio One is a game-changer.

I haven't managed to achieve the same DAW-Melodyne workflow with Reaper, I wonder if I'm missing something or it's just that the ARA standard is co-developed by both Celemony and Presonus so they have the upper hand even with other ARA compatible DAWs.

 

Let's say that all the programs available (like Decoda or Transcribe) are just an aid and complement to your ear, don't expect the'll find perfectly all chords and scales, not to speak of modulations, if ever.

I'll do my best, even if it's not much, to help you reaching your target, but you have to commit yourself to study a minimum of harmony theory.

Moreover there are a lot of pro musician who can help, much better than me (hope so, at least).

One note about the piece you required: usually cinematics does not stick to one only scale and there are frequent modulations, maybe it's not the best example to start with.

My issue right now is just that i'm really bad at "decoding" runs haha
It's much easier when i'm working on my own piece than when i'm doing a cover of something, which's why i'm sort of forcing covers these days

if you "unmix" the track and get stems, you can run whatever's best thru melodyne and that helps give you better note data

As I said, all slow downers programs and all the others chord/scales detectors are wonderful tools to help in transcribing.
In past I listened over and over the same portion of tape / vinyl record to try to jot down melodies, but it was a pain in the ass, and of course no pitch/time stretch, only (speed) pitch control, it was not like using Traktor nowadays.

However, if you don't want to push randomly keys until you find them, or ask to others, you need at least a basic musical theory knowledge.

 

Yes, of course, actually, I had even less tools (70's - 80's). A detuned piano (no way to fix it), HIFI with Akai quartz direct drive turntable and Yamaha deck. As a bonus, an original Sony Walkman II with battery expansion.

And yes, I'm happy that we're in the digital domain now, all much easier to deal the musical stuff (and other too).

Wasn't it clear that you had to transcribe in original tempo, with no time stretch amenity?

The first device that I had with time stretch (no real time) was in 95 a Roland sampler. I tested it, it took 20 minutes or so to stretch few seconds.
