Does anyone have any experience with this plugin. I'm doing some research on limiters so I can test different ones on my master...

It seems this plugin has quite the price tag on it...

For what it costs, how does it compare to other limiters for mastering?

Please comment if you have good experience mastering and can understand this plugin, not because you just tried it...

    Help would be appreciated...

I've tried a ton of limiters including the Oxford v3. It was nothing special IMO. These are my favorite limiters.
    1. Fabfilter Pro L 2
    2. T-Racks Stealth Limiter
    3. Ozone Maximizer

Nice, never heard of t-racks, will try that out...

What do you think about Waves L1? I've tried it on my latest mix and really liked the results...

L1 is good especially if you don't do a lot of gain reduction. But this is pretty true for The Sonnox Limiter except it can take a bit more GR. Some limiters sound better on certain material so it's always good to learn your plugins strengths and weakness in general. That's why having a limited amount of plugins is recommended. Pro L2 sounds good on anything though lol.

i mean every limiter sounds different on certain material, imo theres no one that best for everything, i demo the oxford, really liked it but i just cant put up with the price tbh, luckily most of my work is electronic and hip hop based and it wasnt the best for that imo, couldnt go too loud with it without ruinning the clean kick sound

if you can afford it and you love how it works on your most used material go for it dude

I use the v2 (and before that the v1 - a 32bit cracked version of all Oxford suite was available, that's how I start using Oxford plugins), I don't see what's new with the v3 (I can't update for free cause I use the UAD version which is still v2) but v1 was very similar to v2 so it's probably some minor update with the format (like v1 was 32bit, v2 64bit, maybe v3 is vst3).

I keep using it mostly for the Enhance function, which it is (but it's just a guess) some sort of drive, but sounds very good and really enhance (as it say...) the sound without adding unpleasant distortion. The limiter part is ok, but when it come to pushing it hard (I work mostly on electronic music like house, edm, dubstep, techno and hip hop), I have better result with other limiter like the Maximizer from Ozone or the Stealth from T-Racks. More recently I switch to the Eventide Newfangled Elevate which can really push everything harder than all the previous named.
But the Oxford is still in my chain, for the Enhance part, and also to push 1 or 2 db before the final limiter.

That "enhance" option is a simplified version of the Inflator I think, from what I remember with the v1 I had

Ayyyy thanks for all the input, some really useful information on here

The 25th Anniversary edition which came out a few years ago has a true peak and auto release option now that actually lets you push the limiter much much harder than before :)

Thanks, haven't heard of this one either, will try this one out too in the future

    Sorry about the delay.
This was used with Version 2 Sonnox Oxford

I don't use the presets, although there are plenty of them and for all different genres and styles.
I particularly like it because it is clean and rich at the same time.

You're welcome. I added this one too to show you the versatility of it.

It's clean with lots of energy and bite during the less musical bits.

Their all good depending on the source material... i personally prefer hardware but any of the Digital limiters are good used sparingly. try to use multiple limiters ... 3 back to back doing no more than 2 to 3 DB of gain reduction each ;) i do this in my hardware stage. Limiter , AD Clipper and limiter again on the way back into the Tools with software ;) Apply the same tech to Digital limiters... just an example>>> Slate FGX >>>A.O.M invisible limiter in Clipper mode, and then Pro L2 to finish off. Can use any Digital limiters you choose but stack them :like:
