Its hard to believe, but ive met people that only use sample library and dont actually design a single sound, and sequence a sample pack and shout from the rooftops bout what a wicked track they wrote...

Which stinks and cant be satisfiying at all.

Ultimatley people like that come unstuck , coz theres gonna come a point where the fact librarys bein exclusivly used n sold as an original composition, gets the original owner n programmer riled up and also becomes public knowledge.

id be embarrased as fuck if it was me...

 

it could also be the loop label themselves releasing the tracks to secure copyright

 

if the loops are royalty free, doesn't that give anyone who buys them the right to use them in their own compositions? i wonder where the line is drawn between using them in your own compositions and just calling them your own compositions?

 

Can you copyright a sound you have paid for? Just the possibility gives me the creeps

This is interesting; I'd never heard of rephotographing before, which is strange since I took a 2 yr course in Media, Graphic Design, etc.

As for the main post, I have no real opinion since I don't know what the score is--it could be his music and he works for sample pack companies, who knows? Besides that though, It doesn't directly affect me or mine, so...

this is a good point. i did some work for a sample company many years back and they did not pay me for the work. i tried for a coupe of months to communicate with them and they would not reply. they did manage to put my work up and start selling it though.

my response was to go on every public audio website i could find and post all my work out there for free to anybody that wanted it.
a lot of people downloaded my work, so i was happy with that.

it does put it in perspective though. these companies rip people off all the time.

 

the loops are royalty free, but not the demo tracks. if you threw a bunch of random untouched samples together that would be okay, but just selling the demo is not. that would be the same as selling one of the loops as it is, untouched.
unless you have rights to, of course.

I'm sure, like most, he will regret the lack of creativity it took to organize packaged loops. Regardless, if you have fun, then do whatever makes you vibe. Anyone know of other good communities to maybe collaborate and/or receive constructive criticisms. I would really like some forced inspiration, lil obligation, and accountability with a project. its been too long and I think that a collab could be a great new endeavour. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

 

Just report it to the Freakloops guys. This is the only thing you can do.

 

If it’s ok with the EULA and he is granted the rights to do that, where’s the problem? What’s ironic is to find here, words like steal and the urge to report. I remember Steve Angelo’s track made out of a vengeance loop, haters were after him. What’s dumb is to come across something cool and do nothing with it or unable to and criticise. Mostly by folks with own creations that met no one’s interest.

Royalty free loops are meant to be used, some will be more creative than others.

The license agreement makes it clear. Line is drawn if you attempt to use it in isolation as sound effects and loops. Here is a perfect example:
The Licensee may use the Sounds in combination with other sounds in music productions (which include soundtracks of such as films, video productions, radio/TV programs or commercials,computer games and multimedia presentations, library music), public performances, and other reasonable musical purposes within musical compositions.The Licensee may modify the Sounds and may use the Sounds for commercial purposes as part of amusical composition with other sounds.The Licensee MAY NOT use the Sounds in isolation as sound effects or as loops (i.e. a sequence of musical events) or any competitive products that are sold or relicensed to multiple third parties. A right to use the sounds is granted only to the Licensee and is NOT transferable. This license expressly forbids resale, relicensing or other distribution of the Sounds, either as they exist or any modification thereof. You cannot sell, loan, rent, lease, assign, upload to or download from anyserver, or transfer all or any of the enclosed sounds to another user, or for use in any competitive product.

 

Why? We are not the sample police. What is next? To start reporting releases in AudioZ? Let the developers, and publishers, and their lawyers worry about it.
